Alan Pardew Reported Interested in Palace Job

The Mirror is reporting tonight that Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is interested in the managerial job at bottom of the table Crystal Palace, but we’d be very surprised if there is any truth at all in this report.

alan pardew 987

Alan Pardew – interested in Palace job – why?

Ian Holloway was sacked earlier in the week, and with Sunderland beating Newcastle On Sunday, the London club are now rock bottom of the league, and who would want to take the manager job, when the odds of being a Championship side next season have to be very high?

The Mirror is reporting that Palace have been alerted to Pardew’s interest in the job, by an intermediate contact.

Palace Chairman Steve Parish would like to have a person previously connected with the club, and of course Alan Pardew played for Palace from 1987 through 1991.

Alan played 130 games for the club, and of course he scored the late goal that that beat Liverpool and took Palace through to the 1990 FA Cup Final.

But as we said we don’t think there can be much truth in this report.

Comments welcome.

Aren’t the Chronicle, Journal etc owned by the Mirror group where this story emanated from?

    Mischief making perhaps?

Pardew won’t leave NUFC unless his sacked.

Maybe Cisse wants to take the job ? never scoring player/manager ?

If a newspaper reported that Newcastle United were going to relocate to the moon or sign Bigfoot as a striker would you publish that article too?

Come on Ed, you’ve posted loads of articles in the last couple of hours, it would be more interesting to hear your thoughts on some of the pertinent topics rather than you wasting your time regurgitating this c**p.

    thanks mate.
this is really the major reason why I will never be a Newcastle fan who will become anti pardew.
I’ve always said myself their are lot’s of better managers out their and pardew is probably not a total quality manager but the one thing pardew does have is the pride and passion to commit himself in what looks to be the most difficult premier league club management going ATM because we have high hopes as fans unlike the palaces swanseas and southamptons which means we need the squad and that is what we don’t have.

I know this is just made up rubbish from the gutter press, but imagine if by this time tomorrow, not only was AP being unveiled as the CP manager, but they also had to pay us compensation! Of course, there is less chance of that, than a Lou Reed comeback gig next year.

We so very nearly have the squad, we’re just missing another goalscorer and perhaps a few more youngsters pushing the first team wouldn’t hurt either.

By the way, I’m not contradicting my earlier comments…I did say that the media had a right, nay an obligation, to report the march, I also think that they went a little overboard (like they do with every thing about our club though to be fair) and then the club went over board in banning them. No good can come of this…

is this a sign of what is to come

    1st JFK comes in
2nd no players are bought in the summer
3rd survival is all that seems to be on ashleys agenda
    4th a depressed looking team
5th a manager that seems to be getting more and more angry
    7th local papers get banned
6th he says on Monday the cup is a priority
7th he fields a different team to what we’d expected although it did turn out good except cisse
8th we get knocked out this cup and so pardew seems linked to palace.

so is it me or is it good bye pardew hello JFK.

The club cannot use the Chronicle and Journal to peddle what they see as positives from the club then throw their toys out of the pram when they print something negative.

Ashley cannot have everything his own way with no recourse, something he still hasn’t leaned

You called it right Pardew went for safety first.Funny how City bring on attacking players against a tiring team ,yet we bring on a midfielder and leave our leading goalscorer on the bench

No, but there is balance in reporting. I think the coverage was not balanced at all.

But…when is the coverage on our club ever balanced? We sign a new player and there’s pages and pages of coverage on the player’s past, his profile, interviews etc.

but how we’ve seen already with the CB that we short their
when debuchy gets suspended we would lack a FB
our forwards are very short at the minute.
and when we using sissoko goufran cisse and a show off/ greedy HBA as our main creative winger then we are so short of wingers.

we might have enough to name a 25 man squad but it has got so many injury prone and aging players or youngsters that it’s clear we really are short.

raylor should not be part of this squad but he is.

Until he actually tries to sell the club and not simply offer lip service we’ll never know who is actually out there willing to pay him to get out of OUR club.

If Pardew were to leave for Palace, which i think is highly unlikely, if he were to give Kinnear or someone similar the role, the backlash would be something he’s never seen before and there’d be no coming back from it as it would push even the most hardent fan over the edge

The amount of coverage those reports received was nothing until the club banned them from all forms of media contact within the club. They themselves have created a far bigger issue of this as it has now gone on to have national coverage whereas it was only regional. Yet again Ashley uses a sledge hammer to crack an egg

I don’t think that’s fair at all. Our top 3 centre backs were out for the derby game, any club would struggle with that! Marv, Vuckic, Bigi, Shola and Sammy have barely played this year, Anita has been kept out by Tiote’s renaissance.

The squad is big enough but Saylor and Col have had a lot of injuries recently and we’re missing that key striker.

There’s no good reason for Pardew to leave for Palace and no way would JFK be anything other than a caretaker if Pardew left. We would be seriously stuffed if JFK took over permanently…there would be no justification for it.

You’re right, it was barely a footnote in the odd match report on the Liverpool game, but banning the papers actually meant it got even more coverage and made the owner look ridiculous!

Things just seem to be broken…it isn’t healthy for the owner and a small group of fans to seemingly hate each other. I reckon Ashley could win back the majority of fans if he did the right thing now but he’s never going to do that especially while a minority hate his guts.

infact we wouldn’t hear from ya coz we would’ve won!

Anita is a CM and I said CM is the one good place.

but the wingers and forward and defence is chaos

we have 3 FB’s- hadaira santon and debuchy+ dummett who really should be only getting the odd game here and their but not week in week out.

we have 4CB mbiwa who is still adapting, colo who we are lucky to have kept, saylor is is a total liability and injury prone and willo who it seems is our second best CB now when he was our worst in recent seasons.

    as wingers we have
HBA- greedy selfish all season so far he has never bothered to look for passes instead he is preferring to take players on himself

obatan- still nowhere near first team

marvo- i’m lost with what it is with him, I do remember a bust up last year

Sammy- still hardly getting a game so can’t be expecting much yet

Jonas good work rate but poor creatively

    and forwards well it’s obvious.

only CM is good at the minute.

    just back from the match
thought we played well – gave MOM to Debuchy played well and MBiwa had his best game in a TOON shirt. Pity Dummet and Hiadara had to go off with Hamstring injuries.
Also got to find a place in the team for Anita covered every blade of grass hardly lost the ball or give a bad pass.

All in All I don’t think we are far off being a very good Premiership Team – playing a lot more football on the deck just need someone to unlock defences.
