This Midfielder Could Be The Difference For Newcastle

When Vurnon Anita was starting for Newcastle earlier in the season, he turned in some excellent performances for the side, and pressed Cheick Tiote to start playing his best football for a couple of years, as the Ivorian’s first team place was under severe pressure from the 24 year-old 5′ 6″ Dutchman.

Vurnon Anita – will play tonight

Alan Pardew has said that Vurnon will play tonight, and it’s a good opportunity for the manager to see if Anita is finally getting to grips with English football, and it certainly has looked that way with Vurnon turning in some very good performances for the first team so far this season.

Alan Pardew talked about Anita today in the local press:

“Vurnon will play.”  “If this was a Premier League game, I would still have to freshen it up because of the emotion and physical output on Sunday.”

“It was such that we need a bit of freshness for this game.”  “Vurnon is a great player to put in.”  “He is in good form and I don’t think he’s going to do anything but enhance his chances of playing against Chelsea.”

“His physical output and his speed have increased since he has been here.”  “He has become a better specimen for the Premier League, and that is showing.”

This will be a big chance for the Dutchman to put in his claim to start in midfield for Newcastle, and he has so far played eight times this season, and 45 times in total, since signing for Newcastle from Ajax fourteen months ago.

We need Vurnon to play well if we are gong to get through this tie tonight against a strong Manchester City side.

Really should never have been dropped, not considering form anyway.

Tidy little player, useful for playing on the front foot, not exactly a great player to bring on to close out a game.

It’s a cup game tonight, let’s hit ’em and hope for the best.

don’t it make you sick to your stomach reading the words that come out of pardews mouth,

he has said in the last 3 posts on here where the problems are, these problems are not new problems, these are problems we have had for over 3 year now,

I know from reading the blog that I am no longer one of the only guys that want him gone, in fact, I think if there was a poll right now, I would go as far to say that it could be as high as 80/90% would like him gone, and as for the rest, IMO they only fear who we might get next, which is very poor

I have said many times in the last 3 years, his main tactic is to stop the other team playing, to much time is spent on this, and no time at all to work on how to get the best out of our players we have,,

I know im not a coach , or have any coaching badges, but with that squad we have, I know I could have them playing much better by doing just 3 things,

move our play further up the pitch,

get more crosses/balls (passing not hoofing) into the box

get more bodies into the box

we look weak in defence only because IMO both debuchy and santon play as our wingers and fullbacks, as no matter who is meant to be up there , there always helping MF defend

he has to go,, simple as

Time to get some heads back in this game, Tiote is looking like a real CDM again which is great to see but the back 5 and the attackers (barring Remy) need to sort their s*** out

Cisse seriously needs to pull it together because right now if he was sold barely anyone would notice and HBA should stop dreaming of individual glory and work for it the team. If he wants to be up their with the best in the world he either needs to be untouchable (which is isnt) or work so damn hard he cant be ignored (which he doesnt)

And Pardew needs to shut up and prove some critics wrong, if he can, the question mark over his head is only getting bigger and his ambition is merely spoken never shown he wants to win tonight he plays a full team this is Man City we are facing not a lower league team…and quite frankly our first team should be begging to play tonight after they were embarrassed earlier in the season by Man City

Listening to Pardew’s press conference yesterday, it looks probable (unless he was fibbing) that Jayphoto’s team earlier could be it for tonight, with Cabaye making way for Anita, Remy being rested, and Sammy in for Gouffran.
Remy, Cabaye and Gouffran are responsible for nine of our 16 goals against all opposition this season.
Of the remaining seven, the Ameobi brothers got theirs against Morecambe and Cisse got his against Leeds.
There would be just four goals against Premier League opposition in the team.

    What is NUFC’s Identity?

    We don’t have wingers?

    We do not have strikers.

We take long shots at goal.

Link between MF and attack – non existent.

We criticise our Full backs, because our MFs cannot create anything.

Our defence is leaky at best.

Hardly surprising is it? Take out 2 strikers and the star midfielder from other premier league teams and you would probably end up with a similar amount. We need to play those player if we want a chance of winning tonight, I feel.

Anyone else been reading on Twitter that a number of fans are planning to go the game tonight with The Chronicle, The Journal and the Sunday Sun and wave them during the match? Personally I think that would be a great idea and would send a real message of solidarity that the fans are backing the newspapers.

Catchy…I don’t think we’ll see Pardew fired unless we are looking like serious relegation candidates.

I get the impression style, pleasing fans or challenging the top half of the table really isn’t in Pardews job description as far as Ashley is concerned, so why would his job be in danger?

Then we always have the if he does fire Pardew, who is the next man in charge? I’m not a betting man, but I would feel fairly confident it wont be someone to progress out style of play.

Personally, I am pinning my hopes on the idea that Ashley is nearing the end as far as NUFC are concerned. No money spent last summer, a cheap and useless DOF to oversee his exit strategy, a manager who more or less will keep us in the league whilst not rocking the boat and keeping to the clubs message.

Could we be so lucky to see this seasons Sky money going straight back to Ashley to reduce the clubs “sale price” so that he may finally be gone and allowed to progress with Rangers?

For me, nothing really changes until Ashley does.

Tactics – HBA as a forward Really
Players – Anita was playing well and gets dropped and hardly seen Again, Ameobi brothers are a waste of space… Why did he put shola on did he really think he has super powers against them, has he not seem him play lately past it and his brother is a headless chicken,
Sissoko is gettin worse but still plays, Mbwia blows hot & cold

U look at players like Debuchy, Mbwia, Sissoko, Santon, Cisse, HBA all good players but just seem too be getting worse……….WHY

    Ibiza,

What do you make of this Pardew?

“We are into a really tough part of the season, in terms of fixtures.” “City are coming off a defeat. I don’t know how many times they get beat twice on the trot – not often, so we will have to do something extraordinary.”

“Chelsea are coming off a last-gasp win and I see Mourinho has a little spring in his step. That is worrying!” “Then comes Tottenham. After that we are coming into some games which are really what our season is all about.”

“After that” we have Norwich and West Brom at home, which he seems to be suggesting are the type of games we could “do well” in.

I’m not sure that sounds like a strategy for a top 10 minimum finish.

If fans are banned from bringing in newspapers then that plays right into the hands of anti-Ashley protesters. If you cannot bring a newspaper in then where will it end?

If someone wrote “Ashley Out” on a white t-shirt would the person in question be told to remove their t-shirt or be removed from the stadium?

We live in a free, ordered and democratic society, yet Ashley runs this club as if it is Germany in 1939. We are heading into war though…

personally i think the whol team struggle to show good form, in attack or defence and i believe this is because we dont link as a team, we haven’t got good team play.

defending and attacking as individuals isn’t anywhere near as effective as good team play, thats why they all look worse i think.

BandB…Thanks for clearing that up, I thought you were on to me…I mean on to Pardew…I mean, oh dear, I’ve really messed this one up!

What you need to understand is that whilst we’ll try to shoot for top 10, then are at least 10 other clubs who we simply cannot compete with in the league. We can’t afford ambition you know?!?

Ciaran….Where will it end is a great question. Now is the perfect time for Ashley to keep pushing fans imo, not the perfect time for him mind. Let’s hope his stupidity, I mean business sense, knows no bounds.

I agree with u alot of players are all about the glory prime expamle Mr HBA does he know we have 10 other players on the pitch, yeah i love him too take a man on but sometimes its just as impressive too pass the ball too a team mate, I also think our defense is looking worse because attackin players dont graft as much further up pitch and also dont keep the ball well

not just hba, cisse, remy, cabaye…all shoot from distance, even tiote does a lot.

For me thats not their own choice to be selfish, it’s because we play too deep and don’t have enough passes on so have to resort to that.

Same as the attackers pressing….if they were told to press they would, simple as that. The fact none of them press, but remy and gouff work hard tracking back shows its no laziness but a plan to let the opposition have it in their own half. A plan that the best teams in europe and england don’t follow.

Last time Anita played CDM against mancity our midfield was bulldozed over by them. If he must play in midfield it must be attacking and not defensive. He is not an alternatve to Tiote. Bigirimana, Sissoko and Mapou are but not Anita. I would play the following line up tonight

    ………………………………..King Krul
    ….Anita…………Mapou….,……..Willo…………Haidara
    ……….Bigirimana…Sissoko….Marveaux/Jonas
    …………..Obertan…………cisse…………Sammy

I think Pardew sets teams out not too lose

What would happen if MA just decided to stop?

If he stopped his loans etc that keep us afloat? Didn’t contribute to the running of the club? I know its a ridiculous idea, if we were dealing with a rational individual, but we are not, are we? £150 million is a huge chunk of money to us, but its not to MA – is it.

If his future is at Rangers, will he have achieved all he can extract from NUFC? If there is no buyer in the wings – and so far, there have been no signs of anyone rushing to take us off his hands. What can we look forward too?? He has just about alienated everyone that matters ie the fans, the council, the press etc.

Would he just watch us do a Leeds? Give the club to JFK to miss-manage into oblivion for instance?

There is just something missing in all of this; the club shop effectively a branch of SD, the PR debacles, the stated lack of ambition, the feeble efforts on the pitch – whats the purpose?

In most clubs, this wouldn’t be allowed to happen, yet we are doing nothing to halt the decline. One loan player last summer, a striker, when it was as plain as day we needed strengthening at the back. A Director of FA who is obviously a troubled man, which nobody in their right mind would employ in the role he has been given – the first thing he does is piss off all and sundry, then scraps the deal for the much needed CB.

Our brightest creative player is desperate to leave (Cabaye) it has been rumoured several times that Graham Carr has threatened to walk away a couple of times since the end of last season.

Something just isnt right, it just doesnt stack up in any logical way, I’m actually worried for the clubs future.

I think we set up to stop the opposition like you say, it is probably why we dont have our own style and why europe hurt us so much last year (not the extra games as we rotated, but less days for him to plan or defensive game against that weeks opposition).

We need our own style and to make teams worry about us, sure you will still lose but give yourself more of a chance to win.

Also, i post this a lot, but last season we have the 3rd most shots outside the box, and the 2nd least from inside the box….shows we dont create enough ‘proper, clear cut’ chances.

Ideally, it ends with Ashley getting out of our club. I hope fans take newspapers with them today, and I hope the stewards even dare to take them from them because it would show the club up for the repressive regime they really are. Since when has it been unacceptable to voice your displeasure and stand up for the freedom of the press?

well he is owed the money…so what could he do? take all 150 back…no bank would loan the club 150mil to pay off the guy who owns it.

he owns the club outright too…so if it did start leaking money with debts it would make it lose value when he sells it so he would lose money himself…which he wouldn’t want to do.
