Over the full ninety minutes Debuchy was my MOTM. He is starting look like the full French international that he is.

Anita was great when he came on. Gets stuck in and can deliver a lovely pass. Remy worked really hard as did Goofy and both took their goals really well. The much maligned Williamson had another good game. Keeping out Chelsea will have given Yanga-Mbiwa a lot of confidence. Cabaye was good yet again and what a beautiful delivery (with help from Pardew?).

I thought the tactics whether by design or just circumstances were good. Keeping Chelsea contained in the first half was good. No point in going gung ho from the off against a team like Chelsea.

Praise must go to the fitness coaches as many of the lads have had two very hard games this last week. Today they never looked too tired.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, speaking to BT Sport: “We had exerted so much energy in midweek we decided to be very cautious at the start, we perhaps let them have too much possession but we knew in the second half, with the three subs we could exert more pressure and that is what happened. The goal came at an important time for us.

“We have a great spirit in the group. We have played well, we are together and this win is for Mike Ashley and all our Newcastle fans. I am pleased for the club, we want the local press to be on side with us and today was about giving as message to our fans that we are very much alive and kicking.

“We have no Europa League this year, we are going along nicely. We are probably thee points short of where we hoped but we are nicely poised

I give up. Pardew has set records for all the wrong reasons and still some people back him. Unbelievable. Last season we hit more long balls than a Pulis led Stoke and an Allardyce led West ham and finished 16h.

Why go back to the future when something clearly doesn’t work. If this is Pardew’s new plan B god help us just when we think he couldn’t be any more predictable.

before any of you blind fans start worshiping Pardew….

Remember its always the managers fault when we lose and never his doing when we win 🙂

On that rotonda comment I do see his point to some extent, we could see better football with a different manager.

But at the same time I’m with you on this…credit must be given to pardew for using the system he knows how to get the most out of. He has tried a more technical game and he can’t set his team up to play it well….therefore makes sense he uses a style he is more comfortable with and what is more effective.

For me, hands down Debuchy, closely followed by Anita Santoon Tiote Cabaye Willo Mbiwa Sissoko Goofy Remy honestly that second half was absolutely phenomenal!

Full full credit to all the lads (barring cisse)
And MASSIVE credit to pardew, he changed the games with his subs all at the right time and i don’t what he said to cabaye but wow!

Bit OTT mate, we defended well in the first half but were completely over run in CM and couldn’t bring the forwards into the game, the first 5 mins of the second half were the same
People were saying pardew needs to change it, and he did and full credit for that and the second half

But surely you can understand people being cynical coming into games? Were the ultimate Jekyll and Hyde team

against these teams and most teams away from home i’m thinking this line up is a decent one to use.
the times where it should be changed is against the lesser teams at st james park because we won’t be tiring them much because them teams will be just sitting back.

Difference, Anita changed the game and put us on the front foot. Had Tiote not got injured we probably wouldn`t have even seen Anita today

Sorry you missed the game mate, didn’t miss much in the first half, very nervy! But the second half was one of the best halves of football we’ve played since we beat manure 3-1

well put, all about being adaptable really, it’s key.

Very few teams can do into every game playing only one way…the likes of madrid, barca, munich….the top top teams can but your average teams have to adapt to who they face.

anita would still have came on I know it. he would probably have just replaced sissoko instead.
obatan most days would never have came on so it’s not like we would be 2-0 up had HBA came on I couldn’t see him playing the 1-2 as much with anita.

TADS – Cynical yes, downright depressive, negative and I’ll-informed, no.

Have to agree with Norcal. We as a fanbase can be so bipolar it’s silly. Pardew got it spot on today. First half we were under the cosh and let’s not forget what we were up against. The Chelsea midfield is truly world class, our midfield is not. There was always going to be a losing battle in the middle of the park, but we walked away with all 3 points, 2 goals and a clean sheet.

    What a result!

Great result. Well done to the lads – including the Parsnip!
Finally Sissoko seemed to understand what he was doing out there on the right – his improvement contributed to Debuchy’s storming performance. Mapou was excellent along with Big Willo. Anita looks to have grown in confidence as well. Nice scenes of celebration for both goals. Damn, it feels good to win 🙂

exactly…the chelsea team is so good that even if we played to 100% they could still boss us if they gave 100% too.

People need to accept that we aren’t as good as they teams so hanging in is also an important part of the game.

A good manager is one who fixes problems one game after. A good manager is one who has good 3-4 games (not necessarily winning all of them) out of 5. So around 70%-80% there is a decent performance.

you look at the subs bench
it has got Elliot HBA tavernier and Sammy who were not used.

apart from HBA who else is their to use as that 3rd sub instead of anita?

he might not be starting but he has certainly been coming on as sub.

We are the most consistent, inconsistent team I know! 🙂

Hopefully be a positive vibe on this place for a while. Still won’t turn around and say I believe pards is the future of this club, but his half time team talks (which are often slated) must’ve been spot on.

One of the best 2nd half displays I’ve seen from us in a long time.

Yup were the ultimate Jekyll and Hyde club mate

Yeah still haven’t changed my opinion on Pards, he’s an ok manager, full credit for today but he gets wrong more than right, but when he gets it right were fantastic!
Not sure about the positivity though mate, still a lot of bad feelings between the fans and Ashley and one result won’t change that!
