Newcastle vs Chelsea – Match Preview

nufc emblemchelsea

Newcastle have a tough game this afternoon against second top Chelsea, who have not lost a game in the Premier League since September 14th, when they lost 1-0 at Everton.

But there’s some hope for Newcastle, since Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has never won at Newcastle, and if it stays that way after today’s game, it will have been a every good result for Newcastle.

And we hope our players will be all ready for a top side this afternoon, and start this game quickly, but that didn’t happen last Sunday against Sunderland, so if they cannot get themselves ready to start a derby game quickly, we’re not sure how they will start this game.

Newcastle still have Fab Coloccini and Steven Taylor out of the side through injury, and both players were also out for long spells last season, so it seems that Mike Williamson and Yanga-Mbiwa will get another chance in central defense, and they played solidly enough against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Newcastle haven’t got too much to lose this afternoon, because nothing much is expected out of this game – at least according to our readers.

How Will Newcastle Fare Against Chelsea?

And to be brutally honest we cannot see how Newcastle can get the win this afternoon, since everything would have to line up just right, including the stars, for that to happen.

But that should also give some hope to our readers, since we’ve been wrong before – once or twice. 😀

Alan Pardew will have a few selection problems with Vurnon Anita having had another good game on Wednesday night, and Papiss Cisse continues to lack confidence and miss chances.

We thought Shola Ameobi looked good on Wednesday night, so maybe he will get a chance up front this afternoon, and we’re not sure how much longer Alan Pardew will play Ben Arfa as a center-forward, since the Frenchman  doesn’t seem to play that position very well, and is better out on the wing.

Paul Dummett is injured and will miss this game, and 20 year-old Massadio Haidara, who played so well in the first half on Wednesday night, is also a doubt, and we’re still not sure whether Jonas Gutierrez is available and back from Argentina – we’ll assume all three are unavailable.

This is a side we think Pardew could start today:

Krul
Debuchy Williamson Yanga-Mbiwa Santon
Tiote (c) Cabaye Sissoko
Gouffran Ameobi (Sh) Remy
Subs: Elliot Anita Ameobi (Sa) Ben Arfa Obertan Marveaux Cisse

What would your team be for today?

This is the third game of a tough four game streak for us, and we lost the first two, so it would be good if we can at least break the losing streak.

A draw would be a very good result for us, but the Newcastle players really have nothing to lose, with the expectations not being very high at all.

It’s a very good time to shock us all and win this game.

Howay The Lads!!

Ed that would be great less than 10 games into the season and we could be starting with an Ameobi and Williamson, Jonas is stuck in Argentina or he would be playing too. how great to have such a strong squad. and the bench could contain a second Ameobi a crash dummy, a headless chicken, not bad at all.

You’re getting ower soft, man!. Being made made to read the Chronicle every day cover to cover (including the classifieds) is still too good for Ashley.

Honestly, how can anyone realistically think that the likes of Williamson will be able to defend the goal for the whole 90 mins against the likes of Oscar, Willian, Mata, Torres, Lampard and so on…

Willian and Oscar in particular will run rings around Willo haha.

I’m dreading this today. The Chelsea reserves beat the Arsenal 1st team 2-0 the other day, JM will field his strongest side today against us…we are DOOMED.

Pardew keeps playing attacking lineups at home.
Wish he could sort Ben Arfa out as Ameobi up front is depressing

Any time we have a youngster who shows a tiny bit of potential, he gets rewarded with a bumper new deal.

Ranger, Ferguson, Sammi, and now Dummett.
I like Dumment to be fair, but I think it’s a bit to early to be handing out new contracts. Wish I was footballer lol

We have had some good results against this Chelsea side recently… they will not be looking forward to facing us. Also, Chelsea are expected to win this tie which puts all the pressure on them… I think that gives us something to use.

Would love to see us get a point today but with colo not recovering on time and sick note Taylor surprisingly sidelined it means willo and Yanga are being asked to play a huge game after putting in a massive performance for 120 minutes against citeh, fatigue really could play a part today!
Hoping that cisse is nowhere the starting line up as we need a top performance to get something from this game and that means we need our strongest possible line up and not be carrying anyone

the clueless one will loose today , it could be a long hard day against that MF , which ever MF he puts out , but saying that , why dont the clueless one could put out 5 in deffence and 5 in MF , and see how long he can keep the ball

lets all prey that the clueless one is sacked by tomorrow , yes it is a pipe dream I know 😉

He can win us a penalty by falling over in Argentina. Gust of wind coming off the sea and he’s over like lemming on a cliff edge. He may not be able to shoot that far mind you. Ok if Jonas cannot score, how about a Cisse hatrick?

    TADS,
Pardew is playing 10 men at SJP and Jonas is playing on his own in some park in Argentina. Pardew still thinks he can scorefrom there. He would rather play Jonas then Messi. But I have always rated Percy as a great manager.

I would settle for no gaols in the next 30 odd games because I hope he gets sold asap and a proper striker replaces him. At least one who understands off-side. £50K a week and cannot suss offside?

    This our likely line-up?

    _______________krul______________
    Debuchy___Willo____Mbiwa___Santon
    _______Sissoko_____Tiote
    _____________Cabaye
    __HBA______________________Remy
    _______________Shola

Or configured as a 4-4-2 with Remy joining Shola, HBA on the left and Sissoko, god forbid, on the right. Can’t see him having Santon and HBA on the same side against Chelsea though, so if it’s to be 4-4-2, then maybe Gouffran instead of HBA.

Just trying to pick Pardew’s peanut brain, here.

unfortunately , even if he wins today , he will always be the clueless one , as I think you will find he looses more than he wins, he always blames something stupid , it’s like the whole world is against newcastle because he is the manager

I also think you will find I have been banging on about his failings for 3 years now , they don’t change, the guy is clueless , and he keeps proving it,

looking forward to his new instalment today ,

but hey , we could get a man sent off , that will give him an excuse today
