Pardew – We’re Alive And Kicking: Mourinho – Best Side Won

Newcastle manager Pardew said after the game that the Newcastle team spirit was the thing that got us our best win of the season and plaudits from  those knowledgeable in the game, as we came back big time in the second half and outscored and out fought Chelsea in front of almost a full house of  51,674.

Yoan Gouffran scored brilliant first goal

This is what a delighted Alan Pardew said after the game:

“We decided to be very cautious from the start, not let them play for us, and we perhaps let them have a bit too much possession and there wasn’t enough pressure on the ball,”

“But we knew second half we had enough to exert pressure and the crowd were getting behind us, and that’s exactly what happened.” “The goal came at a great time for us.”

“We’ve got a great spirit in the group. I think we’ve played well.” “We’ve had some moments where we’ve not been so great, but we’re together. I’m pleased for the club.”

“Today was about giving a message to our fans that we’re very much alive and kicking.” “And I’m pleased for everyone associated with Newcastle, it’s a big win for us.”

And Jose Mourinho has still not won a game at St. Jame’s Park and this was his second defeat and he also has two draws, and today was the first time Chelsea have conceded more than one goal in the league this season.

Jose was magnanimous after the game, as he said this to BT Sport:

“I think we deserved to lose,” “We had a couple of good chances to score the equalizer, but they were more in the game than us.”

“They fought more than us, were much more committed than us.” “They did much to win, and for sure they were the best team on the pitch.”

“I told the team at half time that I’ve been in the game for many, many years, and I was smelling what happened,  because it was quite easy to play the first half.”

If Newcastle can play like this against the poorer sides in the league (Sunderland quickly comes to mind) then we can still do very well.

Make no mistake, this was a remarkable performance from Newcastle in the second half today – just ask the Chelsea manager. 😀

People still want to talk about Ashley and Pardew – start talking about the TOON and the performance today.
Pardew got his team and tactics right. two good goals could of had more. Williamson and MBiwa excellent at the back
but my man of the match Debuchy Class act.

Tiote took himself off slight thigh strain.

By the way where was the Chronicle today – never saw one

    Well said Charlie!

This is the time to get behind the team an drive them up the league! Calling for the owner to sell up or Pardew to go is pointless, they’re going nowhere.

Damn good result today, the whole club should be delighted! Deserved win too. Similar performance to Wednesday but we got the goals.

    TDS and Charlie

Still think people can call for the manager or owner to go just don’t see why they can’t have one night off to enjoy what was a good game and great result today.

Charlie in the Gallowgate – good suming up of the match – agree about Debuchy he was everywhere today, cutting out crosses, making clearances in the box and getting forward and linking up well with Sissoko. Most disapppointing plaeyr for me was Santon, he had a shocker, every pass went to a Chelsea player but he did make amends with his clearance off the line.

Also I think we need some more songs for players…anyone go to fan meetings where these are discussed?

how about, to the tune of daddy cool, “timmy, Timmy Krul, Timmy, Timmy Krul”

to the whitestripe’s seven nation army intro…”oh vurnon anita” (a classic with a lot of players these days)

to boom shake shake shake the room by will smith….”boom, cheick cheick cheick tiote”

    Anymore are welcome

A defining moment for me -which roused the crowd was when Shola broke through their defence – Shola got past two players and then Ruiz came in for the challenge but just dangled a leg in and Shola didnt hang back. Ruiz wimped out.

Sjp is such a fantastic place to be when, like today, the players give the fans something to get excited about. I didn’t notice pardews silly little note pad once. Pardew was all action. Full credit.

    Jamsha – hoofball next game?

What a pathetic piece of Pardew bashing.

We haven’t played hoofball all season.

Exactly, we have kept it on the ground. We might be too defensive and not playing great (in my opinion) but we have tried to play football.

And at the end of the day i’d take hoofball if it got us results.

My favourite moment today was when David Luiz was yellow carded and all the ground were singing “You’re just a sh*t Colocini” 🙂

As long as pardew can now give us some consistency then happy days.

    It is only match though.

When we beat Chelsea 3-2 last year, many presumed we had turned the corner. We hadn’t. Hopefully we have now though.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves.

    Having said that, fantastic performance.

Will mean nothing if we cannot turn consistent performances like this though.

Since the first half at Everton we’ve looked a more than decent side with the exception of the shambles in the derby.

With the rub of the green we could have beaten Lpool and City in addition to Chelsea and its no coincidence all three didnt look great against us – we are pressing teams well and doing some good stuff in possession.

I’m not saying we are all of a sudden a very good side but we were never a cr@p one this season either. Pardew mentioned the spirit in the squad and that was clear in the way we played against City and today.

Anybody else notice Santon hardly crossed the half way line today – what a difference that made to the defence.

Debuchy My MOM was everywhere. Much maligned Williamson and MBwia excellent midfield no problem but Anita should be starting game changed when he came on drove the TOON forward.
Remy Goufran great again and both scored good goals.

still haven’t seen a Evening Chronicle

    Charlie,

Lets not forget Tiote, he was immense again while he was on the pitch.

All credit to Anita who was excellent especially in their half when we were going for goal.
