Well, we got the team right for a change, and the only surprise in Alan Pardew’s team for the Chelsea game this afternoon is Shola Ameobi up front as a striker alongside Loic Remy, as Newcastle revert to a 4-4-2 formation.
And with so many defenders being out injured, James Tavernier comes in on the substitutes bench, which is also made up of Rob Elliot, Vurnon Anita, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cisse.
So the bench is quite strong when and if Alan Pardew wants to change things around in the second half.
The midfield four are Moussa Sissoko, Cheick Tiote, who again captains the side, Yohan Cabaye and Yoan Gouffran, and Vurnon Anita is again unlucky to be left out, after his very good performance against Manchester City.
For Chelsea, former top Newcastle striker Demba Ba is not even ion the bench.
We’re not expecting much out of this game, so maybe Newcastle can surprise us this afternoon.
Here’s hoping. 😀
