Alan Pardew was interviewed immediately after the game and maybe we saw some emotion form Alan Pardew after the game, as he talked warmly about his players and how they deserved massive credit for the way they were massively criticized after the Sunderland game, but came back today to play a great game and get a memorable win, one we’ll remember for a long long time.
Alan Pardew and Jose Mourinho at final whistle
And it stopped a Chelsea’s six game winning streak, and it was the first time this season in the league that Chelsea have conceded more than one goal, and the Newcastle players even received compliments from Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho after the game for their commitment and drive, which his players lacked, especially in that second half.
Here’s some of what Alan told nufcTV immediately after the game:
“It was huge for us because you know we’ve put in a real shift today and shown quality and that’s what our fans want to see, they want to see us play with heart and second half we did that and won the game.”
“Our work rate, our commitment, our spirit, our togetherness was great and I really think it’s a privilege for the players and they deserve a lot of credit today because they took a lot of criticism this week, and it’s not easy for players to get the criticism they get here – so fair play to them.”
The players deserve great credit for their fantastic commitment today, there’s no doubt about that.
Now if we can only keep up that kind of form and drive, we could even do well this season.
