Two Players Who Could Leave Newcastle In January

With Director of Football Joe Kinnear failing to bring anybody to the club other than Loic Remy on loan in the summer, you would hope that Joe has been doing his job and scouting a few players to go after in January.

Gabby Obertan – loan move in January?

Newcastle need another striker and a winger, and we may also see Newcastle trying to bring in a center-back, although that may have to wait until the summer, if nobody suitable is available in January.

We could see some players leave the club in January, either on loan or permanently and two of those are Marveaux or Obertan, both of whom have been struggling on the fringes of the Newcastle first team, and Gabby has said he may want to go out on loan if he doesn’t get more playing time through January.

Newcastle shouldn’t want to lose many of our players in January, but simply bring two or three in to fortify the squad, and not much business is usually done in January, with clubs in mid-season and not wanting to lose players.

But of course Newcastle last January turned all that upside down, when we brought in five quality Frenchmen to try to save us from relegation, and they are all now improving and doing well at Newcastle.

We’ll have to see how Papiss Cisse does through the rest of the season, but if he remains in a slump we could see him even moved out next summer, but as far as January goes the best chances of two players moving out are Obertan and Marveaux.

We need a striker and a winger, and we’ve been linked with Bafe Gomis of Lyon and Ola Toivonen of PSV, both of whom have contracts that run out next summer.

Newcastle have also been interested in 24 year-old Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason.

We’ve been linked with two wingers, Tom Ince of Blackpool, whose contract runs out in the summer, and Manchester United’s Wilfried Zaha on loan.

We’d be happy with Tom Once and any one of those three strikers, with maybe the preference being for Finnbogason.

Of course some clubs may come in for players we don’t want to lose, like Yohan Cabaye as one example, and if we lose a player like Yohan, we have to hope Joe Kinnear brings in a replacement.

And there’s an emphasis on hope there.

Comments welcome.

Wouldnt bet bothered if 1 of them went out on loan but not both we need a pacey player for the bench to hoy on in the last 10mins or so to take advantage of tired defenses.

Obertan will definitely stay, Marveaux I can see going as he is too injury prone. I think Tom Ince could well come in as a part ex for Gosling who seems to have settled in at Blackpool,
But, where is all the rubbish coming from that we are selling Cabaye to either Liverpool or Arsenal???

What do we more or less know about January and our chances of signing anyone?!?

    1) That in the summer, if we had got a new player, we would be spending money we don’t have.
    2) If there is no real reason to, i.e pending relegation, then Ashley doesn’t tend to sanction spending.
    3) We almost have our full quota for the league (24/25 I believe), so there is only one spot left.

What can we make of this? I would think that unless a super deal presents itself which is simply too good to turn down, then we may well have to sell a *shudders* “purple” to finance the purchase of two new players.

Cabaye would probably be sold at a high price 20-25 million, hopefully Cisse will be sold at a reasonable price 8-10 million.

this gives us an option to purchase 3 players Ince 4 million, Gomis free signing with an option to buy bit like the Sissoko deal maybe between 2-3 million and finally Andre Ayew 10 million.

17 million spent on players coming in whilst making a profit from Cabaye & Cisse sales.

34 million – 17 million = 17 million profit, but by the time agents want there fees it could be about 14-15 million profit.

There’s room if we make some: Taylors, Tavernier, Gosling, Obertan, Bigi, Vickic!
    Leroi,
    Nice chant for Remy!

I agree about Obertan Scottie. I think he’ll be a useful player but he does need more games. I think he’s one of those sort of players that if you sell him you’ll regret it.
I do remember that during our 13 match unbeaten run two seasons ago that Obertan was an ever present and the slide started as soon as he was injured or dropped…food for thought!

    Noooooooooooooooo !

Please don,t let us sign Ola Toivonen !

PSV will be laughing at us, he is one of the worst players in the Dutch Eeerdivisie at this moment !

PSV can.t wait to be rid of him !
