Newcastle need to bring in a striker this January, and we have been linked today with 30 year old Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic.
Mirko Vucinic – Juventus strike interesting Newcastle
Mirko joined Juventus from AS Roma in the summer of 2011, and his age immediately puts some doubt on the authenticity of the reports, which are coming out of Italy.
The fact that he has played in only three league game for Juventus this season, make him surplus to requirements at the top Italian club.
Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente have forced Vucinic on the bench this season, but we’d be very surprised if Newcastle have any interest in this 39 times capped (15 goals) Montenegro International.
His four-year contract at Juventus runs until June of 2015, and he’s also on £70K/week, so his age coupled with his high wages would seem to rule out any move to Newcastle.
Mike Ashley has an unwritten rule in place at the club that Newcastle sign players 26 years old or under, so signing Vucinic would go right against that strategy, and the owner doesn’t like to pay big money out to players who are past their best either.
We’d be very surprised if Newcastle have any interest in Vucinic.
