Alan Pardew has today heaped praise on Vurnon Anita and his professionalism at Newcastle, and every time he’s played for Newcastle this season he’s looked very good, but he’s not complaining to the manager about not starting, and simply continues to work his socks off in training, which as impressed the Newcastle manager.

Vurnon Anita – has impressed manager with his professionalism

This is what Alan said today about Anita in the local press:

“It’s not good banging on my door saying you should be playing.” “I need to see it on that training ground.” “He’s one of our best at doing that.”

“That’s the best way to be, because your manager is going to respect that.”  “Therefore, when his time comes, I’ll stick with him because of that honesty and that commitment to the group.”

“It pays you in other ways.” “He’s knocking on the door in training, and trust me, that’s where you want to do it.”  “We’ve looked at Vurn’s stats in training and in his work, and he’s improved physically since he’s been here.”

“I think he’s getting to grips with the Premier League, and he’s pushing hard now.” “That’s what we want. He’s pushing hard to start.” “At the minute, Cabaye and Cheick are back to their very best, so he’s got a tough job.”

“That’s a really good area for us.”

Anita is just 24, and it’s good to know that the stats have shown he’s an improved player since he arrived at Newcastle, and it’s maybe not too surprising that Vurnon is the best passer of the ball at Newcastle with  an 87.2% success rate (approximately).

How many times do you see this lad give the ball away – not many times and therefore he’s a great player to bring on to see out a game.

Vurnon played 37 times last season for Newcastle and he’s made 11 appearances so far this season, so he’s getting some reasonable playing time at the club – but he will keep Tiote, Cabaye and Sissoko on their toes, and any drop n form could see Anita come in as a starter.

There’s no doubt that Vurnon is doing great this season, and he seems to be yet another good buy made by Chief Scout Graham Carr, and the last six players we have bought, including the five Frenchman in January look to be great buys for the club.

And add to that Loic Remy as a loan signing, and he’s been phenomenal.

Things could be looking up for  Newcastle this season.

Comments welcome.
