Newcastle will soon be getting ready to welcome Chris Hughton and his Norwich City side on Saturday afternoon, and it’s a game Newcastle will be expected to win against a team that has been struggling so far this season.
Chris Hughton – while at Newcastle
And Mike Williamson has been interviewed in the local press today, and he has talked about the manager who signed him from Portsmouth for a measly £1M almost four years ago, when Newcastle were in the Championship.
This is what Mike said today about Chris:
“He had a massive influence on me and he’s such a great person, a great manager,”said Williamson. “He has all the attributes to get Norwich up the league and progress.”
“He is a great guy, easy to approach. He was somebody the players wanted to play for. We had a lot of characters in the group when he was in charge, but the overall consensus was that we wanted to get a result for the manager because he was such a nice guy.”
“You could always speak to him. It was a good environment to be in.”
Chris of course got Newcastle promoted in 2010, with one of the biggest points totals ever in the Championship – 106 points and 30 wins in the 46 games.
Chris in fact has some of the attributes that made Bobby Robson so super successful as a manager – Bobby was a good guy who players could always talk to – and the players wanted to win for him.

We expect Chris to get Norwich up the league table this season, but it may have to wait until after Saturday, because we hope our lads are becoming professional enough to get all 3 points on Saturday.
That would make three league wins in a row, which we never achieved last season, and if the lads can do that then Newcastle fans will be flying.
