Top Italian Club Fancy Newcastle’s Geordie Star

Juventus are said to be keen on Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul, and the reason is they are trying to prepare for life without Gianluigi Buffon, but Buffon is still only 35, which is not old for a goalkeeper these days, when you think Brad Freidel is 42, and still looking like a very good goalkeeper at Tottenham.

One of Krul’s great saves at Tottenham

Of course Krul is the man of the moment at Newcastle, after one of the best goalkeeping displays seen in the Premier League for some time at Tottenham, when he made 14 saves, and some of them simply stunning.

AC Milan have also been credited with an interest in the Newcastle goalkeeper, who has been on Tyneside since the summer of 2005, and now speaks with a modified Dutch Geordie accent. 😀

This is what Tim had to say:

“I feel like a Geordie now and feel at home,” “You know you feel at home when you can understand a proper Geordie in a conversation.”

So there you have it, and somehow we don’t think Tim would be too thrilled to move to Juventus and back up Buffon – waiting for him to finally retire – because that could be some years down the road.

And we remember the former great goalkeeper Dino Zoff, who was 40 years old when he captained Italy to a World Cup win in 1982 in Spain, when they beat West Germany 3-1, and players are a lot healthier these days and fitter too.

And Tim’s first priority this season is to secure his place in the Holland squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, and at least at the moment that’s not a certainty.

Lad had a stormer against spurs but i’m not sure that game aside that hes as good as people are making out! Hes very very good but i’d class Lloris, De Gea and Vorm ahead of him! Would also put mignolet and Cech on a par with him! His kicking and distribution let him down and they are important in todays goalkeeping skills!

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Krul go for £15m & Forster come in for £10m. It would be a geordie on our books & £7m profit when you take into account we sold FF for £2m.

i think that if FF had stayed when TK was injured he would have found it difficult to get back in the team
