Newcastle Players Shine In Historic French Victory

France somehow managed to qualify last night in Paris for the World Cup finals in Brazil next summer, when they beat Ukraine 3-0, and while Mamadou Sakho has to be the hero with his first two International goals in such a vital game, both Mathieu Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle had good games, and will be returning to Newcastle on a high today.

Mamadou Sakho ukraine

Mamadou Sakho of Liverpool scored twice – he looks happy

In particular Mathieu Debuchy has improved a lot while he’s been at Newcastle, and not only is he becoming one of the best right backs in the Premier League, but he was also France’s best player over the two legs against Ukraine.

And when Mathieu was substituted last night after 79 minutes, he got an ovation from the very appreciative Paris crowd.

Certainly Moussa Sissoko, Yohan Cabaye, Loic Remy and Mathieu will be returning to Newcastle in an upbeat mood today, after such an important win last night, but unfortunately Mathieu is suspended for the game against Norwich City on Saturday.

But all our French players will need to play well for Newcastle, if they are to get places in the World Cup squad next summer, and that can only be good for Newcastle United.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

My site was hacked into late last night and internal files were changed with malicious intent. Tiger Technologies are continuing to investigate the break-in, but everything has now been restored to working order, due to their laborious efforts today.

This is the reason the articles have been delayed today – Ed Harrison.

Jut cannot understand why anyone would want to hack a football blog – spiteful, wicked people.
Ed – The site is still not working as it was -the list of articles such as France Surge ………… shows only 33 comments, whereas there are at least 44 comments under that heading -clearly still not running as it was.

Typing nufcblog.com doesn not get me in your site Ed, I got in through an older post, maybe you need to fix this.

Suddenly Debu is a good player? No, he was before he joined NUFC. We do need to ‘fix’ Cisse and HBA and then we are sorted.

Cabaye has already come out and said that he will be at Toon until at least the summer
Remy has also said he will make a decision in the summer

This is because they were already thinking of the world cup
    1) A move in Jan may jeopardize a world cup place
    2) A successful world cup will increase their options as more CL clubs will be interested and may make a bid for them

It’s probably good news for this season but not so good come summer when Cashley cashes in and only spends 25% on replacements
