Newcastle United are said to be interested in signing up 17 year-old top Brazilian youngster Abner, who is currently at the Coritiba club in Brazil.
Abner – Brazilian 17 year-old left back
The youngster plays at left back, and he was one of the stars at this year’s World U17 Championships, and is starting to attract interest from some top European clubs.
The report is in talkSPORT, and it’s not often these days that Newcastle sign a South American youngster, or even linked with them, but certainly this lad has been a star of the Brazilian U17 side this year.
It’s debatable what his value is, and it could be anywhere form £500K to £1.5M, and at least tow other clubs, Roma and Benfica, are also said to be interested in the 5’8″ tall left-footed defender.
Abner was born in Londrina and doesn’t turn 18 until next May.

Which game if possible would you want him missing?
I’d say WBA, Swansea and Manu are after that.

Comment #8Not overly bothered whether we get this lad or not, I would be more interested in just knowing if we are seriously interested or if it is just paper talk.
If we are seriously interested then maybe this is the coming to fruition of the supposed increased scouting activity in South America that Llambias said they were putting in place 2 years ago.
Timings would be about right as we are led to believe that we watch players for 2/3 years before making any move. A potential step forward if this is the case.

You say the blog is dying because there are SD PR people on here driving fans away?
You’ve been reading too many fairy stories.

Lil…Wouldn’t that be something! It would be nice to see us moving in to other markets other than France, nothing against the French lads at all, but a bit of balance is generally a good thing. Let’s see what happens.

I had the same problem and had to restore my tablet to default settings and clear cookies to get access.
The blog was hacked yesterday and something has been deliberately installed to prevent access.

Comment #16Hope he has at least one European parent then, as surely he needs a work permit to play in the UK?
That or be an established international, which at 17 is unlikely

Comment #17Alinufc // Nov 21, 2013 at 1:53 AM – about time the link with kia joorabchian paid off?
Does anything positive ever come to fruition with this lot in charge?
Ok we appreciate that the kid’s agent’s probably marketing him but if there is any substance in this story, what about the confidentiality bit?
Other clubs seem to announce signings such as this as though out of the blue but the way Kinnear’s mouth runs when he’s had a drink, there’s no chance of this or other such coming off.
