Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini has agreed to stay with Newcastle through the end of this season, but some surprising quotes from the Newcastle captain today, that after the end of the season he hopes to return to Argentina as soon as possible – to use Colo’s own words.
Fab Coloccini – still wants to leave Newcastle
It was last January that Fabricio Coloccini had a bit of a standoff with the Newcastle club, as Buenos Aries San Lorenzo FC were very keen to sign him, but in the end they couldn’t come up with the money – thought to be around £6M for the Newcastle captain.
Coloccini has today talked on the Argentine web-site Ole:
“We did everything possible to return to Argentina, but obviously Newcastle have the final say,” “They are the club that invested in me… and you have to respect that. The truth is I don’t want to get my hopes up. Hopefully it will be as soon as possible.”
It looks like Colo will push for a move back to Argentina in the summer, and we assume the personal problem he had in January, which is why he wanted to return to his homeland, has not been resolved, and of course his family is now living permanently in Buenos Aries.
If players like Mike Williamson, Yanga-Mbiwa and Paul Dummett keep playing well this season, Newcastle may elect to let their captain leave next summer, but they would need to get a decent fee of around £4M for their captain, and he still has two and a half years left on his contract next summer.
And Newcastle would also need to replace him with another top center-back – Joe Kinnear please take note.
But it does seem that Colo’s personal problems have not been resolved, and that’s still the issue.
Fabricio has been a great buy for Newcastle, and the Argentine International has played 192 times for Newcastle with 5 goals, since signing from Spanish club Deportivo for just over £10M in August five years ago, and he’s been captain for over two years now.
Fab’s played 38 times for Argentina with one goal, and he has an excellent chance of making their World Cup squad for Brazil next summer.
What do you think?

Comment #48The personal situation must be pretty bad still for Colo wanting to leave fair play that he is carrying on playing you can tell watching him play that he is struggling maybe dropping him can be a good thing as Mbiwa needs to play as many games as possible he is the future .. until we sell him

1p and 2p coins are legal tender only if you are paying for something costing 20p or less: if you attempt to use 21 or more 1p pieces in a single transaction you technically contravene the Coinage Act 1971. Likewise you can spend up to £5 in 5p or 10p coins, or up to £10 each in 50p and 20p pieces.
However, pound coins are legal tender for ANY amount, thus offering the chance for a fun and frolics at Ashley’s bean-counters expense. Now for the simple matter of locating 267 million pound coins…

Comment #50Hey real guys. If our players stock goes up after World Cup Ashley will sell. And I will hate him for it. But I’m sick of people acting like he benefits from it. You guys know nothing about business and just because we make say a 15-20m profit on someone like cabaye. Ashley is no better of unless some money goes to pay off the interest free loan he or into the club.
YOU CANT JUST TAKE MONEY OUT OF A COMPANY IT IS ILLEGAL. NO PROFITS GO NTO ASHLEYS POCKET. HE GETS PAID DIVIDEND WHICH WILL BE AND AGREED PERCENTAGE OF PROFITS. LIKE ALL COMPANIES.
I GET PAID A FLAT RATE FROM MY COMPANY PLUS 10% of company profits. We’re I to turn around one day and say “I wAnt to take home all my companies profit. Or an extra 10% of profits this month. My ass would land itself in jail.
Ed you were a big shot at IBM. Please clear this up so I don’t have to read this every day.

Comment #53Geez, the blokes personal life is at stake and we’re holding him to what amounts to a contract extension, despite his exemplary and loyal service. Surely we can do a swap deal or a loan. NUFC under Ashley do seem quite remorselessly crap far too often, to imagine it isn’t at least in part true.

There are some very intelligent people who use this site, not everyone of course but that is a fair reflection on society, judge my intelligence as you wish, we have all seen the public accounts and understand that Mashley.direct.com is not taking money directly out of the club, hopefully the £ .5M paid to SD sill be explained, until then we will presume he is innocent, but please exain where the revenue has gone !

Comment #59Poor Saylor, bollocked for alleged “Racist” abuse – how narrow minded some people can be! As the players say, Saylor is a fantastic bloke, but he’s not the sharpest tool in the box.
I would believe that there was NO malicious intent, he was having a laugh with his mates. Its been blown out of all proportion.

Comment #60We didn’t actually hear Collo utter the words so bear in mind that they’re not necessarily his. Memory says that his father’s keen on the move.
But and closer to the now, it’s time to take the armband off him and if he’s not happy with that, out him out to grass.
If his heart’s not in it, no armband and out of the first team.
Shame really

Comment #61Collo was always free to leave just not too leave for free. For some mythical reason we were expected to be the first club in history to simply let a 10mill player leave the club for nothing cause his dad had said he would bring his kid back to the game to get elected to the board.

Comment #62Pedro @40:
An original and good idea, but with us not being able or willing to arrange outright complete transfers with other clubs?
Count if you will, the number of names we have been linked with in the last say two years, where the player has ended up somwhere else, or an apology is published saying that the club was outbid or wage demands from agent/player were too high? Coud,nt get him over tyhe line etc etc etc !
It would be possible to use another club a a satelite club, similar to what Chelsea are doing with Arnhem Vitesse in the Netherlands? Almost 70% of the first team squad in Arnhem are on Chelsea,s books! There is talk over here that maybe Chelsea / Vitesse may win the Dutch League, either this year or next?
Chelsea have also pumped money into Vitesse and parked a lot of their youth players in Arnhem to get playing time and develop. Van Aanhout has been playing there for about three years now, and was awarded his debut in the full International Team last week against Japan. Van Aanhout is and has been for years on Chelsea,s books.
Abrahamovitch and Jordon, are good mates with eachother and set this agreement between the two clubs up a few years ago, much to the dismay of NEC NIJMEGEN. Who hate Vitesse as much, if not more than we dislike the Scum!
My point is this, we could do exactly the same , as Chelsea with San Lorenzo in Argentina or another club withinin Europe?
Such an agreement is possible but would cost money to set up, and our tight fisted owners and direction have problems even arranging decent transfers for players so the whole concept would be dead in the water before it even got afloat.
Shame is that ! eh Pedro!

Comment #63The reactions on here would be a whole lot different if we hadn’t won the last two games, with two clean sheets.
He’s very useful, if he does leave we need to replace with a high calibre CB. Respect he wants to leave and has given us a lot (5 yrs is a good stint). Let him go as soon as we have everything in place (fee, replacement etc)
