Coloccini Returns To Lead Newcastle

nufc emblemNorwich City .svg

Alan Pardew has brought Fabricio Coloccini back into central defense, and he has moved Frenchman Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to right-back – in a shuffle made necessary because Mathieu Debuchy is suspended for this game against Norwich City today.

Fabricio returns to captain the side and takes over   from Cheick Tiote, who did very well in that role while Colo was out.

Newcastle will continue to play in a 4-4-2 formation with Loic Remy and Shola Ameobi up front,  and the hope is that Newcastle can get their third win in a row today against a struggling Norwich City side.

And 20 year-old Massadio Haidara returns as a substitute, after recovering from the hamstring strain he picked up against Manchester City in the League Cup, but there is no Steven Taylor, who is fit again after recovering from his hamstring strain.

This is a game we should win today, but these types of games for some reason are never easy for Newcastle – but we hope they can come through for the fans today with a win.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Moussa Sissoko, Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Yoan Gouffran; Shola Ameobi, Loic Remy
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, Vurnon Anita, Sammy Ameobi, Gabriel Obertan, Hatem Ben Arfa, Papiss Cisse

Norwich City (4-5-1): John Ruddy; Russell Martin (c), Michael Turner, Ryan Bennett, Martin Olsson; Nathan Redmond, Bradley Johnson, Leroy Fer, Jonny Howson, Anthony Pilkington; Gary Hooper
Substitutes: Carlo Nash, Steven Whittaker, Sebastien Bassong, Josh Murphy, Wes Hoolahan, Johan Elmander, Lucianno Becchio

Referee: Mike Dean (The Wirral)

i hope YM just stays at hom and lets Santon fgo forward as he doesnt have the mobility of Debuchy and for this game should just concentrate on keeping the right tight

Oh well at least they’ve planned for this formation for a couple of weeks.
Confidently cruising to a clean sheet or 90 minutes of sheer panic, I don’t know which to expect.

Surprised! But not a problem for me. If Colo didn’t have the right attitude in training, then he wouldn’t be playing.

Bad team if you ask me.

Wheres Steven Taylor and Hatem Ben Arfa?
Why isnt Sylvain Marveux, Jonas Guttierez and Steven Taylor on the bench( if he isnt starting)
Why are Haidara and Sammy Ameobi on the bench ahead of them.
Still think we wil thrash them tho 4-0. Remy to have a blinder 😉

With Mbiwa at right back, I’d play Ben Arfa. We don’t need our RW tracking back so much with Mbiwa.

It’s two teams of grafters playing against each other today. It will come down to who has more heart. I think we’ll just edge it.

Why break up M’biwa & Willo for a guy that wants to jump ship “ASAP” ? .

Haidara should have came in for Debuchy with Santon moving to right back .

At least Bassong isn’t starting which makes my nightmare scenario of him playing a blinder, controlling Remy and heading the winner from a corner a very unlikely prospect

I suppose with Pardew always wanting to keep it tight at the back this inevitable outcome prob means Mbiwa will be the fall guy against West Brom which is pretty poor like

Not so sure about a 442 with Shola against Norwich they will try to keep it packed with 5 in midfield so we may get outnumbered would have been better with Arfa as the no 10 and let him and Remy move about pulling players out of position might be a bit static with Shola up top ?

Also why the calls to bring Taylor back ? He has been terrible for the last 9 months and is constantly injured its just because he is a local lad that he gets a lot more leeway than Willamson ever will !! For the wages Taylor gets and performances he puts in we should get rid and get another centre back who can play more than 10 games a season ! Only have to look at how solid Mbiwa looks with Willo at the back when he was a mess with Taylor at the back last season coincidence??

Better get the win today will be raging if we put in a limp performance

IMO Pardew is taking wrong decision. He should play Ben Arfa behind Remy. Obviously we will not have the same pressure with Norwich.

Anyway, 2-0 for us and We can finish in the top four!

What are you smoking my friend?

We cannot be in top 4 even if we will win 30-0.
Chelsea in 4th, with 21 points. We have 17.
If Everton won’t lose, we can be max in 6th.

Also, we need to win 7-0 to pass Man U. no?

Pardew does like making it hard for himself. Surely the least disruption was Anita in at RB, not someone who doesn’t even want to be here. Have we really missed either Argie at all?

Nice to see Martinez and Poyet shutting up the numpties who wrote them off.

Persoanlly would have had anita right back, didn’t want to break the CB partnership as it’s worked well but colo and wilo are good together as well so shouldn’t be a massive issue.

I like that we haven’t gone to ben arfa he doesn’t deserve his spot. This side has been doing well and getting results which is the main thing.

As for a team of grafters? well yes but also genuine quality in cabakye, remy, sissoko and gouffran, much much more than work horses.

in my view having Colo & Willo at the back means we will be sitting deep since them 2 or slow and i think Redmond & Olsson will destroy our defence.

2-2 for todays results but with AP it could be 3-1 to Norwich

Anita would have been my choice but norwich have some big lads so wouldn’t be ideal him coming up against hooper or somebody at the back post, so see why we didn’t go for it.

As for poyet and martinez shutting people up….well not so sure, takes more than a few good games. Everton are doing no better than under moyes and poyet has been good but only 4 games.

In my opinion Collocini should no longer be considered Captain-a captain should be a man who should not publicly address that he wants out Asap-a new captain should now be appointed-Tiote has thrived with the responsibility, I’d say he could do well as our captain.

It was a beautiful game for France you look so much better when Nasri is nowhere near the team and Ribery and Benzema actually pass to another team mate!! Any time I watch those 3 for France they seem to just pass to each other and no one else!

Cabaye and Pogba were immense in that game

not at all, we don’t have a thin squad at all.

take our starting 11 today (debuhcy for colo) then still have a team of

    elliot
    raylor, saylor, colo, haidara
    anita, bigi, marv
    hba, cisse, sammy

we have a decent back up side….still improvements needed but hardly knackered.

    Viasat Sport Sweden

The quality is good but need more people to connect and share the stream.

So you are welcome to help.

It is 900kbps which is very decent. Specially compare to those flash links that go on 175-250kbps only.

I cannot fault the team selection. I think playing Ameobi is playing into Norwich’s hands a bit, but his last few games warrant his selection… so I cannot grumble.

Elmander not playing is good news.

Norwich want to play 5 in midfield against Tiote? lol fair enough… If they want to try and run through the Interceptor, let them try.

I think Mbiwa playing right back is a blessing in disguise, I recall Norwich giving us problems down that flank not so long ago.

My only hope; if we get a 1 goal lead, we do not camp on it for the last 20 minutes. The absolute worst thing you can against Norwich… this is a side that has invested in strikers, not defenders.

    Not going to happen.

I will take a 1-0 even. 3 points is all that matters. 1-0 and a good defensive performance.
Of course it would be better to have a bigger win. Something to show some class difference (if it exists).
