Our Standards Are High – We Have No Excuse

Alan Pardew has mentioned the Hull City game as a precaution, because it’s a game Newcastle let get away in that second half,  after dominating the first 30 minutes and being a goal up and 2-1 up at the break ,with two goals from that man Loic Remy.

Alan Pardew – no excuses today

But like many games in the Premier League these days, the second half was completely different,  and Hull raised their game and a shoddy Newcastle defensive performance resulted in Newcastle losing that game 3-2

And it was one we should really have won, but how many times have your heard that one?

It’s a similar game this afternoon against a hard-working Chris Hughton coached Norwich side, and this is what the Newcastle manager has said in the lead up to a game we should really win:

“It’s about standards.” “And our standards are high.’ “As long as you are going across the board in your training and your work with those high standards.”

“Since the start of the year we have had periods where things have gone against us in a catalogue of games.” “But we have no excuse.”

“We have had plenty of rest.’ “Our guys have had a fantastic international break in terms of results.” “So it’s all set.”

“We were complacent against Hull in the second half.” “It cost us three valuable points.” “Now we need to beat Norwich and it’s a great challenge.”

“Then we have another hard game coming up.” “We are sitting here today in a great position, but we want to be saying that Monday or Tuesday next week.”

Alan is completely right in what he says – there are no excuses today –  and if we don’t play at the top of our game this afternoon, against a weaker Norwich side, it’s another indication that Newcastle are simply not professional enough.

Not yet anyway.

What do you think?

Before that Citeh knocked us out of the cup.
Las game Spurs absolutely thrashed us … it should have been 6-1 … cheers Tim.

So our standards are high – Scum Hull … all last season, every cup game … please Pardew shut up you idiot.

If we switch off today we will lose and all the hard work from the Chelsea and Spurs game would have been for nothing.

Our standards are high … lol

We have no excuse … lol .. it’s usually all we have, no points and a hat full of excuses from Pardew.

So today should be a fun new experience for us.

I would be just like us to beat two side’s expected to compete for the title and then lose to a side that could be facing a serious relegation battle.

If we play like we did against Chelsea and show the same fight that we did against Spurs we should win today…………………..but nothing is ever easy as a NUFC fan 😀

    With International Break – again
Today – Like the start of a new season.
And today’s game, I’ve got a feeling it could be a reversal of the Spuds game – we do most of the attacking but can’t put the ball in the net, so we the crowd will have to be patient.
Still going for the win though

Bearing in mind the quality of the signings we’ve made I don’t get why so many of you dismiss Gomis as a potentially poor buy.

I’d trust Carr’s judgement after watching him live over an opinion formed from Youtube highlights.

I go into this game today with a feel of Trepidation !

Got the same thoughts mon, i thnink the players know what
they have to do, we played really well against Chelsea and the three points we got at Whiteheart Lane were thanks to a bang in form Tim Krul, god help us if he,s sold in January!

It would be typical us , if we lost this afternoon, but we aint helped by Pardew,s need to spout bulls……t ! Before the game.
Still hoping for the three points, a lot depends on the Ref and if van Wolfswinkel is on form?

Gomis is an poacher which is bad for Newcastle ( look at Cisse for example )

we need another advance forward like Remy & Gouffran if we want to see more goals

Once upon a time, Van Wolfswinkel was a target of ours!

We will see this afternoon if we dodged a bullet in not getting him.

Was a fan while he was at Utrecht, but i aint seen nowt special yet since he signed for the Canaries.
