Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player In 2-1 Win Against Norwich?

Newcastle made hard work of it in the second half after gliding to a 2-0 interval lead, but then the Magpies tried to sit on their lead and contain Norwich – why we have no idea, and the Canaries eventually scored in the 80th minute and then made a match of it.

What ever Pardew is telling the players at half time he needs to stop it, as we are making it hard work for ourselves trying to defend a lead for 45 minutes

I like Remy but he is too greedy… He should have passed the ball to Cisse who was wide open… He knows he messed up…

Is that right about Cisse? I didn’t watch it. That guy has had so many goals chalked off for offside and so many more that he’s hit the woodwork!

Shola by a mile…fantastic play by the lad, took responsibility on very well and should be club captain in my opinion.

we struggled when he went off, couldn’t get up the pitch at all.

i dont get why we dont continue to do the things we did in the 1st, in the 2nd as well ie. pressing the oppo who have the ball and just basically pressing higher up the pitch.

I know we cant maintain that for a whole match but we should still be managing it straight after half time for at least 20-30 min of the 2nd.

what scares me is that Remy will be off at end of the season if not January and we are again left with naught up front. Although the issue in second half wasn’t upfront, we just couldn’t hold the ball in MF.

it was a difficult call, cisse had loads of room so should have played it a bit safer, not clever by him but onside.

it was the defenders trailing foot which played him on, looking at bodies he was off…so can’t fault the linesman.

cisse it like tiote…..offside so much that when 50/50 call goes against him, same as tiote with fouls, made so many for us that anything that ref is unsure goes against him

Remy had 2 clear instances where he was overly selfish but overall good from him and Anita as well. Anita is just so controlled on the ball it’s great to watch.

should of kept playing the way we did in the first half hasnt he ever heard of if it aint broke dont fix it?
makes ne wonder where we could be with a top manager

Such a shame for Cisse then! When is he going to get a break?!

Guys…can we just accept that this is football, that mistakes happen and that there’s a balancing act between trying to hold onto a lead and trying to make the game safe. It can’t always be executed perfectly!

We won, that’s 3 in a row, we’re 6 points clear of 11th, 10 clear of relegation and 1 point behind 4th. Bit of happiness?

I agree with the points that we do drop off when we should be keeping the pressure on, we make it hard for ourselves, so i understand the criticism.

But I am also happy to look at it from the point of view of we had a great half where everything was spot on, so lots of credit for that

Wouldn’t argue with that mate, it sad as i think with one goal Cisse could come alive again, I know he doesn’t exactly help himself at times but a little luck could go a long way in restoring his confidence

my wife has come up with a solution to win the prem . a simple tactic , but very affective — ban pardew from the dressing room at half time.

Yeh, if he gets the odd bit of luck, defender missed the clearence and he gets a tap in, or the ball just falls to him in a good position then he could be up and running.

I still think we struggle with him on as he doesn’t retain the ball as well as shola but we all know thats not his game.

Mbiwa for me, playing out of position and locked his channel up like fort knox.

Ameobi a close 2nd, if only he could strike the ball, it would be an undoubted MOTM performance.

I doubt Pardew told us to defend the lead second half.

The fact is we were lucky to be 2.0 up at half time and Norwich played good possession football and never panicked even after conceding an early goal.

If Pardew was defending a lead he wouldn’t have brought HBA on with 15 mins to go.

It’s not about trying to hold onto a lead or close the game out when we sit back for an entire half!

I can understand it happening for the last 10 or 15 minutes but not for 45. We were lucky to hang onto the three points today, but we have to stop making life so hard for ourselves

it just seems to be something we do quite a lot, when we leading defend a lot of the second half…so if its not a plan from the manager why is he not putting it right?

not a huge criticism but it does need addressing.

I much prefer to just enjoy the win today

Still with the negativity!? Some great football from us in 1st half. Second half we were in control and both sides tired but with a two goal cushion there was no need to repeat the Hull experience.
Well played lads!! Good line-up and substitutions from Pards.

Happy, but not delirious, which is the attitude all our fans should have, which leaves room for considered critique. Another good 3 points.

Team for next week should be restored to the pre-international break line-up. Big call Pardew has to make and if Willo is the fall guy, it’ll be a cack-handed move.

So despite some people claiming that Houghton is a better manager than Pardew, Norwich getting back into it is all about Pardew making mistakes? Nothing to do with Houghton changing things round a bit, Cabaye going off or Ameobi going off…

That has been my issue with the brigade. We play well and it’s all because of “wonder goals” and “luck” and individual performances.

Yet when we play like s*** it’s all Pardew’s fault 100%. So what’s the point of a manger I wonder…

Yep, Pardew was camping on the lead, that is why Cisse and Ben Arfa came on.

    The mind boggles.

If Remy would have squared that ball, and Cisse buried it, I am sure some people would be making a different assessment of the tactics.
