Newcastle striker Loic Remy is in good spirits at the moment, and of course his sparkling form for Newcastle this season is one reason the team is now doing so well, but it seems unlikely that he will be with us next season, once his loan spell is over – but you never know.
Loic Remy – after scoring at Tottenham
Loic has been talking in positive terms about Newcastle’s season so far, and he had this to say about the side:
“For the moment we just carry on and play good. We go game after game. We’ll try to win a lot of games. At the end of the season we can do, maybe, the Champions League.”
“At the moment we are not focused about that. We know we have quality and that we can do it. I am not surprised by the quality of the team.”
Those are positive words from Loic – especially that last bit about the quality of the team.
And we suppose one scenario where we could keep the French striker on Tyneside is that we do finish high up the league table, and Loic is convinced Newcastle are becoming a good side again, like we have been in the past under Sir Bobby Robson and Kevin Keegan.
Certainly if Newcastle are ever going to be a top side again, it’s top players like Loic that we would have to persuade to stay on Tyneside.
And if we can do that with Loic next summer, who knows – we may have even a better side next season.
And we do know that Remy is impressed with the abilities of Alan Pardew, and Loic certainly seems to be improving as a player at Newcastle, so maybe that’s another possible factor – if we are to sign him permanently next summer.

Comment #2never say never, we made 5th with a worse team before, so could happen, even if unlikely.
For me we have a good team, we have good backup players for the odd game as well but long term injuries to key men like cabaye or remy could have a huge effect as we don’t have that quality in reserve like the better teams do.

Comment #3Europa at best, if we keep consistent and get the ‘easy’ points against the lower teams and not just the bigger teams.

Comment #48th is where I think we will finish with current squad. Jan can change it but the Fat wanker will not do anything.

Comment #6to make europe we need cisse to get back to form its no good relying on remy as teams will just mark him out the game soon when they learn.
also a real winger in place of sissoko would not go amiss.

Comment #8If we want 5th or higher we need Ince (or someone like him) that can chip in more goals from wing play, and a younger Shola type CF that Remy can play off of.
