Newcastle Loan Target Having Problems

News tonight that it’s not absolutely certain that Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha will leave the club on loan in January.

Wilfried Zaha – one game for Manchester United so far

Newcastle had presumably been favorites to take the 21 year-old on loan for the rest of the season, however the Daily Mail today has reported that the youngster is finding it difficult to adapt to the big time atmosphere at the Red Devils.

And there are rumors coming out of the club that the youngster is under-achieving at United and that has reportedly put off at least one Premier league manager wanting to get Wilfred on loan in January.

If the news that Newcastle are interested in the player are true, then we don’t expect this to put off the Magpies, who will have a chance to take a look at him at Newcastle.

And then Newcastle can make a decision on whether he would be a decent permanent signing in the summer, although the fee would need to be a lot less than the £15M the Old Trafford club paid for him from Crystal Palace last January.

What do you think?

Can’t see Utd dropping the price to one we would go for. Would be interesting to see him here but the whole deal doesn’t seem likely or that logical.

Best thing for the lad would be going to a club where he’ll definitely get games. His loan back to Palace should’ve been for all of this season as well.

    Tuff,

Seems you can give it but not take it.

Lesson you need to learn quick….

    Don’t give it.

    Rotonda from previous thread

You’re counting M’babu as a January signing, which is true.

Given how he is 17 and has never made a first team performance, I class him in the same category of signing as Curtis Good and Romain Amalfitano. So when someone says that after our 5th place finish we signed 4 players – Good, Amalfitano, Bigirimana and Anita, I would say no – we made 1 first team signing. So in January we made 5 first team signings.

And I am the one being pedantic?

Have got to say I dont think we need Zaha. Unless we get a buy option for 4 mil. There is no point. Just pushing back our own academy hopefulls for the good of Man u.

Also question…… if people could bring in three players for less than five mil each that would improve our current squad who would it be?

I think Shane long has to be in there. If we can pick him and Gomes up on the cheap. I dont think they will replace remy but would definitely help.

If Zaha really is finding it difficult to adapt to the big time atmosphere at the Old Trafford, then he’d equally have problems at SJP.

Unless he’s well managed as seems is Pardew’s forte or we’re not big-time!

Gomis and Long would be ok as options but I have to say I’d rather we signed a young promsing striker. Long and Gomis are a bit better than
Shola but only by a bit.

I think it’s quality rather than quantity that we need now.

Cabaye, a confident and aspirational player, quite naturally wants to play Champions League, which is what you’d want and hope for in all your players, but the owner has apparently different aspirations, so much so, that he is in fact prepared to stand in the players way to such a degree as to hold him, interested clubs and in effect the very club he himself owns to ransom.

And by the way, Ba was right to go too, and why Remy probably won’t sign. You get the opportunity to compete for a Champions League spot at a club like Chelsea, maybe even win one, whereas you very much likely won’t at Newcastle. It’d be more of a worry if a player didn’t want to take on such a challenge. Which I suppose is why so many are deeply concerned about Ashley’s true intentions for the club. Seventh, eighth, is only a position that has threatened to deceive if you don’t push on. It’d arguably be better finishing 17th every year as long as you played entertaining football week in week out.

Jamsha i agree. I think he will do better at Newcastle and has premiership experience.

Jimmysmith might be off topic on your post but i would rather play week in week out in the premiership and play in the champions league maybe once if ever in my career at Newcastle, than sit on the bench at Chelsea. Specially with Bas talent. He has the ability to score goals from nothing, in one of the best leagues in the world and is happy to sit on the bench…….

He is surplus to requirements but played the last two game for them.

Better fool them for not utilising there better players. He is not going to get in the team over Remy but would definitely be a good squad player for how much we would pay for him.

Is Shane Long surplus to Brom or not prepared to re sign?

I can see us going in next season with Gomis, Cisse, Long, Shola and a decent winger, and needing to replace Collo and Cabs and possibly failing to do so in a timely way.

Replacing Collicini is going to be a tough job. Newcastle always struggle to find consistently good centre backs. Woodgate and Colllicini in 10 years Haha.

I don’t think he’s likely happy to sit on the bench. I think he was offered a big opportunity that hasn’t worked out for him, which is unfortunate, but never a good enough reason not to chance your arm in the first place, as far as I can tell.

I dont think we have a chance of keeping Remy though. Can’t believe we didn’t put a buy clause in his loan contact. Out foxed by Harry Rednaop again.

Suppose if he scores 20 goals this season we can’t complain.

People think because Long is not being used by WBA that he’s a bad player? More fool them and more fool WBA. Long is a cracking wee player, and for the money it would cost to buy him should be a no brainer. He should have been a no brainer for the 5/6m it would have cost to buy him from Reading, let’s hope we don’t make the same mistake twice.

There are a lot of sweeping statements on here about Shane Long? Can anyone on here come up with anything to substanciate any of these facts which are coming out on here?
Where are all these statements besed upon, and who says he is surplus to requirements at West Brom?

It sounds like a lot of you are throwing out comments without knowing or even caring if there is any truth in them?

Shane Long would be a good signing for us but The Baggies would not let him leave for nowt, they are just not that stupid?

As for Zaha, he is a good player but very young and probably just needs to get a confidence boost. Manure are a tough team to get into? I would get him on loan with an option to buy in the summer. I am more concerned about just who is going to be leaving?

Cabaye wants Champions League, lets push on and get it for him, if we do that we may even be more attractive for better signings next year?

    NEWEX,
You just made a comment that people post without thinking about what they said, then you said get Zaha with an option to buy, Man U paid 15M what type of option do you think they would give us if he we’re to be successful enough for us to want to buy him, QPR probably wanted 10M for Remy if he worked out and never went to jail and where’s he going at the end of the season.

Miroslav Klose also will be out of contract. Although he is 35, he is still very productive goal scorer and consistent. Very good for back up and massive experience to have in the team.
