Deschamps Must Watch This Top Newcastle Player

Yoan Gouffran played 22 times for the France U21 side with 3 goals, but he has never played for the full French team, and he doesn’t seem to think that will change anytime soon.

Yoan Gouffran – after scoring on Saturday against Norwich

Yoan is a starter again for Newcastle this season, so that in itself should alert France’s manager Didier Deschamps, that he should at least take a look at the forward, who has scored four goals in 15 appearances for the Magpies this season.

Gouffran has been interviewed in the local press today, and he is very straight forward about his chances of  making the French World Cup squad – and this is what he said when asked if he thought he could get into the squad:

“I don’t think so.” “Every game, it’s the same players. There are 20 or 21 players, and every time it’s the same players.”  “I’m happy to play for Newcastle.”

“I focus on Newcastle. If I play well, I’m happy, and if we win, I’m happy.”  “The last three games have been great for us,” “We played very well, and now we have confidence.”

“It’s good for us, and we have to continue with that.” “We have to win this game because it will be important for the rest of the season.”

When you see Yoan play for Newcastle. it’s not hard to understand why he’s already a firm favorite with the fans, because this guy works his socks off in every game for the team, and he pops up with some crucial goals for us too.

All Yoan needs to do is concentrate on doing very well for Newcastle this season, keep his head down, work hard in training – and that’s something he’s done ever since he arrived on Tyneside last January, when he spoke in lyrical terms about joining Newcastle United.

And who knows, if Newcastle do very well this season in the Premier League – and we mean very well – and Yoan keeps scoring those goals, he could even sneak into the French squad for Brazil next summer.

And wouldn’t that be something.

What do you think?

What has impressed me most about Gouffs play this season has been his work rate and desire to get the ball and then do something with it.
Benny and Sissoko should take a leaf out of his book.
If he keeps fit then I don’t think we will see Jonas back in the team.

    Lew…He’s fairly terrifying really.

Gouffran has really impressed me too. A battler with an end product? What a novelty. Seems to have a decent attitude too, which is good.

I’d be really shocked if Jonas walks back in to the team.

“The manager made it clear on the first day of pre-season there would be competition for places, and anybody who wanted to leave had the opportunity”

    “anybody”? Really?

Don’t think he’s quite international quality.
If his goal tally was 8 so far it would be different. Remember he’s missed a few open goals this season.

No knocking the lad, great player and real asset. But I’m not surprised, in the slightest, he’s missing from the France squad.

Every team need players like him so so effective if we get shane long and can keep remy no defence would be safe.

We don’t have a cat in hell’s chance of keeping Remy.
The sooner we accept that the better.
Enjoy it while he is here.
He will be gone after the WC

I’d have thought such a grafter as Gouff would be ideal for Deschamps.
