Newcastle Player Not In Top Echelon – Yet

It seems that French striker Loic Remy is coming on in leaps and bounds at Newcastle, and Loic could  remember where he is being made a better player by  manager Alan Pardew, and think of that when he decides which club to join permanently next summer.

Obviously his best choice would be Newcastle, but there may be a little bias there. 😀

Loic Remy in action against Norwich last saturday

Right at the end of Alan Pardew’s press conference yesterday, the manager was asked if he thinks Loic Remy is now one of the top five strikers in the Premier League, and this is what he had to say:

“We have a striker in great form at the moment in Remy obviously, but I don’t think that he is in the top echelon yet, because he hasn’t got that experience that some of those players have, but he has great prospects.”

“I’d like to think you know two years down the line he can definitely be in that group,  but he has a little bit to learn I thought he showed that at Norwich,  but there were times he needs to get his head up to make the right pass.”

“But he has fantastic talent and certainly one of the best younger players in the league at the moment.”

Loic is currently 4th in the Premier League goalscorer list with eight goals, two behind top scorer Sergio Aguero of Manchester City, and one behind the Liverpool strike force of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who both have 9 goals.

But there’s no doubt with more time in the Premier League (and at Newcastle) , Loic Remy can still improve and become even better than he is today.

Now there’s a thought.

4 strikers clearly ahead of Remy: RvP, Suarez, Rooney and Aguero. After that it’s pretty close between Remy, Negredo, Soldado, Sturridge, Lukaku and Giroud I’d say.

That’s probably your top 10 though.

Not to be a harbinger of doom but if he did stay next season without the World Cup or European football, he will sulk and be injury prone. He and his agents are mercenaries, but thankfully things have coincided that his one shining season will be for us.

70TWO…How do you figure that he will be injury prone next year but not this year?

If he stays next season it will probably be a deal done in the summer so he will know if he’ll be playing European football or not, to say he’ll sulk and be injury prone is pretty stupid. honestly some people on here are just daft, because it’s not a World Cup season he’ll be injured more!? How do you figure that one

I remember prior to QPR getting him that it was an issue, it may have been growing pains. I am surprised how many games he has managed for us thus far, as even at QPR he was not used consistently. The motivation of the WC and playing for a team in the CL are what he desires and to emulate T.Henry. They are not bad at all but will NUFC provide those possibilities next season, or am I purely speculating?

Does anyone know when this court case is supposed to be happening? I thought we were told Remy might be brought in January when it was all cleared up, it must be unsettling his stomach!

70TWO…On the injury prone issue, he seems to be coping fine and I wasn’t personally aware of previous issues.

Was just wondering why you thought injuries would prove an issue after the WC…but I’m guessing that wasn’t really your point.

I agree that for the moment the WC will be his main motivation. After that? All bets are off…speculate is all we can do.

70TWO – ref the Remy case. It was in all the papers that he was re-bailed until 21st November – which was last Thursday night. Clearly that was duff info – or he has been further bailed -which is nowadays unusual. I suppose we are just going to wait and see what develops -when he does return to a London cop shop -which will be 1. Charged or 2. released no further action.

Remy case isn’t heard until the summer, he’s on bail until then. At least that was my interpretation.

    Mister Tuff,
I saw something saying it had been deferred due to his international call up, could be wrong though.

On him being injury prone, he managed 39 games last season (12/13), 50 in 11/12, 56 in 10/11, 36 in 09/10, 37 in 08/09. Before that he was breaking through from the youth ranks. When he is in the 50’s it is when his team are in Europe. Certainly not injury prone….

Remy was valued at 20+ a couple of seasons back, way before he played for Pardew !!!

He’s not injury prone but does get a niggling groin injury which needs to be nursed according to Arry.

Lilongwe @21 -ref Remy -very strange there has been no updates on this – several papers revealed the same re-bail date as 21st November. I’m guessing we’ll hear something within the next couple of weeks. Surprised non of the papers have asked the Met Cops for an update.

Ref tomorrows game – as last week – if we play like the first half -we should overwhelm the Baggies. Only dangers are if Anichebe and Long are allowed to play -with Anichebe given room to use his power and Long being allowed to twist and turn Willo/Colo or if Sessignon is allowed to get a run going. Other than that if we “play” we should be too powerful. The defence do seem to have been protected somewhat recently by Cabs and Mr T. Could be a tricky game -but my shout is for three points. Prediction 3-1 to the Toon.
