How Will Newcastle Fare Against Swansea – What’s Your Team?

Alan Pardew will presumably be making some changes to the starting eleven from the Newcastle side that beat West Brom at home on Saturday 2-1.

Rangers v Newcastle United - Pre Season Friendly

Steven Taylor – looking to play tomorrow night

Possible players getting a start on Wednesday night include Steven Taylor, Yanga-Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita, Papiss Cisse and Ben Arfa, but exactly how many changes the Newcastle manager will make is of course unknown, but he’s likely to make at least four changes, to give some of his top players on the bench a game.

What team would you field on Wednesday night against Swansea – let us know.

And this is Swansea’s third game in six games, since they also played in the Europa League last Thursday night, so it could be an opportunity for Newcastle to get their 5th league win on the trot.

And also let us know how you think the game will go at the Liberty Stadium.

    @ Spoof

He did put a peach of a cross onto Cisse’s head to put us through to the semi finals of the UEFA cup in the 90th minute.

He also played a great pass for Cisse again (against Fulham maybe ?) through the eye of a needle to win us the game when we were in a relegation battle, but other than that he hasn’t really had a long enough run of games .

I agree like Ben Arfa he needs to work on his attitude and work rate, but for me he would be perfect when Cabaye is starting to fade in the last 15 of a game and we are maybe a goal down or drawing and need a spark to create something.

I would drop Collo for M’biwa & Cabaye for Anita .

1 . Swansea are quick and nimble, something Collo struggles with . Plus Willo & M’biwa keep clean sheets against Chelsea & Spurs then Collocini waltzes back in and we concede in both games against Norwich & West Brom (one of them Collo’s fault) .

2 . Cabaye is a booking away from suspension and we need him for the trip to old Trafford .

Even without Cabaye and playing the same 4-4-2 formation we should be too strong for them, especially with Bony & Michu missing .

Not saying he didn’t get the assists, he had a few tidy games last season, but he had some woeful ones as well

But that’s all last season, this season he’s dropped out of the matchday squad and there must be a reason for that, it can’t be pinned on pardew having favourites or picking Guti because he hasn’t been available to the squad
So there must be a reason for that, pardew has talked quiet openly about all players are on an even keel as long as they are putting the work in, in the case of Marv you can only assume he’s not doing that

As for you having a crush on the lad, who said that! It’s your life mate, not sure what the full on defensive is about, just saying YouTube can make anyone look good, there’s a few on there that make gabby look a player

If we are planning on winning this game, or taking at least a point – then there is NO room for Saylor on the pitch until Willo, Mbiwa and Collo are crocked on the sidelines.

He is not match fit, he is not at the top of his game, He is probably 4th choice CB at the moment!!

I notice Ba is still actually in the frame at Chelsea and played well on the weekend, belying the popular notion that he made a mistake in moving on and even happy to cool his heels on the bench and pick up his big pay check.

The wife of Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini has posted a series of emotional tweets following her return to the couple’s native Argentina, leading to speculation that the 31-year-old defender could leave Tyneside.

    My team on Wedensday:
    Krul
    Debuchy-Willo-M’Biwa-Santon
    Anita-Tiote-Cabaye
    Ben Arfa-Cisse-Gouffran

With Remy and Sissoko ready to come in as subs if needed. Maybe Gutierrez makes the bench?

Jimmy – Ba’s performance was somewhat of a rarity. Have a good friend who’s a Chelsea fab, he’d be glad to see the back of him. Said to him today I’d happily take Ba back.

In terms of Marv maybe not doing enough in training to warrant a place this season, its hard to know the exact ins and outs if were not there to see it, but I think its probably abit of both Marv been quite a lazy trainer but also his confidence being sapped due to Pardews lack of faith in terms of constantly selecting lesser quality players infront of him, his head is bound to drop.

    Team for Swansea

    Krul
    Deb Willo Yanga Santon
    Sissoko Anita Cabaye Gouffran
    HBA Cisse/Shola

Elliot, Colo, Tiote, Marv, Remy, Jonas, Cisse/Shola

I reckon Percy will want to keep last Saturdays team for the Man U game. Therefore he will be mixing it up a bit on Wednesday. I can see Cabaye on the bench -safeguard in case he get a yellow and misses the Man U game. Think he may start Mr T. – best “engine” at the club and could easily play on Wednesday and Saturday. If things are going OK he could withdraw Mr T late in the game. (Mr T needs to sort out Rooney at the weekend as he is playing very well at the moment) -Rooney will not like Mr T sticking to him like glue. I think Benny will start as well as Mbiwa.
Swansea game is definitely winable. Hope he doesn’t start Obertan -the lad needs to be sold in the window.

he may well have put 1 or 2 decent crosses in, but this is now his third season, its simply not good enough, get rid, he is a waste, Gouffran has done more in the first 13 games of this season than what Marveaux has in the same period plus an additional 2 seasons beforehand, quite simply Sylvain should be ashamed of himself, all those wages he has picked up with nothing from him in return.

With Swansea’s injuries and busy schedule I think we play some of our off form guys to get their confidence up. If they struggle we can always put Remy and others in for the last half hour. I would like Sissoko, remy, and Cabaye to be well rested for ManU!
    Krul
    Debuchy–Mbiwa–Willo–Hadiara
    Anita—Tiote
    Benny—Marv—Gouffy

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I’m sure if Newcastle could have had the the benefit of it they would have run a mile from both the Obertan and Marv deals. They haven’t contributed one half decent players input between them in 3 seasons. Clubs make errors, players are moved on or wind down their contracts and are allowed to leave.

I think realistically though, we won’t buy too many or perhaps even any unless some dead wood is shifted first to make way for them. Which I think might be why we weren’t as busy in the transfer market during the close season – struggled to get rid.

    Debuchy, Willo, Mbiwa, Dummett.
    Ben Arfa, Anita, Tiote, Sammy
    —Cisse, Goufrann

I think without Bony and Michu we can take the risk with Sammy and Ben Arfa. Just keep Anita and Tiote defensive and attack down the flanks. Sammy and Dummett link up really well. Then bring Guit on if we manage to go up.

If it has to be different team against Swans and MU then:
    ————————Krul———————
    Mbiwa———Saylor——–Colo——Jonas ———————Anita———————–
    Marv—————–HBA————–Obertan
    ————–Shola————Cisse————-

Or Dummet as LB and Jonas as LW, maybe Obertan can play as sub for Shola against Swans.
For MU, keep the winning team.
I would prefer different formation like 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 against Swans, but I think reality will be 4 at the back.

Swans have pacey wingers, but they have to go mid to score, unless they can shoot and score directly from both flanks without going middle. I would stack the mid with 3 cb, denying them space to go mid or give hard time for target man.

    Santon,
you’ve changed things too much there I think. I’d maybe play Jonas, I’d give HBA a half, bench Cabs for Anita, but Obertan and saylor wouldn’t be starters for me, ever! Of course, Shola would’ve been sold by me 10 years ago and look at him now!

We are talking as if we’re suddenly world beaters. That we can save our best for Man U while giving all players a chance to stretch their legs against us. Disagree. This is a tough game, the Swans will have the lions share of possession; if we win it, it will be a bit of a snatch and grab.

I’ve gone draw. Biggest optimist on here but we can’t get carried away. Away games are tough and our away record is nothing to shout about. Score draw. My team would be
    Krul
    Deb-Willo-Mbiwa-Santon
    Sissoko-Anita-Cabs-Gouff
    HBA
    Cisse

Mbiwa should come back in. Colo did nothing on Saturday to justify his starting spot.
Rest Tiote as he is one booking away from a suspension and he will be key vs Manu.
Want to rest cabaye for the same reason but the team look far weaker without him starting so can’t drop him.
Optimistic for Shola to play 3 in a week – rest.
Remy looked tired on Saturday – rest.

    @29cyprus

    SO TRUE.

We can gente 3 points from swansea. Why go and risk it by trying to bring 4th choice players so we will have a stronger team against Manu.
We have to balance between those games. The swan game isn’t in the bag “baby”.
I would prefer 3 pts againts swan and then see who what we can change for Manu. Two changes in the squad is the max we should do for the Swansea game. Remy and cabye for me. Put Benny or cisse, and for cabye put Anita. That’s it.
If ppl think that colo won’t do well against swan then put yanga. But defo no saylor or obe right now.

  • @Cyprus & Oleg G

    Spot on

We can win this and it’s probably the more likely of the next two games we will win so play the same team. Moral is good why change ?

If we are wining by 2 after the hour mark we can asses then on the likes ok cabs and tiote.

However I would like HBA back in the team asap I watch football to be entertained something pardew knows very little about. Everyone mentions how important cabs & Mr T are v man u but what about Shola?

Marv should be given a chance of a run in the team he is class but onlyran is shite and should be gone asap. Williamson is not good enough but as we are winning I would keep it unchanged. 0-2 remy goofy
