There is news in the Mirror that Newcastle are interested in 27 year-old German attacking midfielder Aaron Hunt, who has played for Germany three times.
Aaron Hunt – 27 year-old German left-winger
Hunt’s contract at his current club Werder Bremen runs out in the summer, so the left footed midfielder will be available as a free agent in the summer.
Hunt was born in Goslar, West Germany to an English mother, and has been at Werder Bremen since way back in 2001, and he has played 332 games for the Bundesliga side and scored 72 goals, which is not bad for a midfielder.
Arron is left footed and usually plays on the left wing, and Southampton are another Premier League club said to be interested in the player.
Whether Newcastle will go after this player in January or wait until the summer, we don’t know – but he’s right on the borderline of age at 27 years old.
Aaron stands 6′ tall and played for all the German Youth sides, and he looks a very decent player, who may be available for a nominal fee in January.
What do you think?

I think he is a very skillful player, and on his day very good. The problem with him is that when he does get a chance to start, he is often anonymous in the game. The way we are playing currently requires everyone to work for the cause as well as play football.
If we kept Marv, I could never see him as a regular starter for us, only a 20 minute every now and then off the bench when we need it. But as we also have HBA on the bench at the minute, Marv wouldn’t even get the 20 minutes. He wants to play more, so I’d expect him to leave in Jan or the summer.

Comment #44All good points… So would it be safe to assume that any player added would suffer a similar fate atm

I think it depends on the player. If they are willing to put in the hard yards as well as offering a bit more than current starters – I think the main areas of opportunity are central defence and up front – then they would get there chance.

Comment #47@Santon – Sinclairs on a season long loan at West Brom and has been out with a hamstring injury – don’t think he’s any better than Obertan to be honest

probably because Marv can’t tackle and not strong enough because Anita has the same built but he can tackle and compete with bigger players. pardew seems to prefer complete midfielder, Marv has flair and creativity. Noticing the differnt types of the players that can get into the team and can’t.

Comment #50Even if 2 midfielders got injured, Anita and Jonas would probably have better chance getting into the team than Marv or HBA unless they have changed their playing styles.
