Alan Pardew Springs Surprise – Newcastle Unchanged

swanseanufc emblem

Alan Pardew has made a bit of a shock selection and named an unchanged side for Swansea tonight, and the logic is probably that Alan believes we have an excellent chance of getting all 3 points tonight, and plays his strongest side, and will make changes for the early kick-off game at Old Trafford on Saturday.

On the substitutes’ bench is 20 year-old full-back Massadio Haidara, and he is joined by Rob Elliot, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita, Sammy Ameobi, Gabriel Obertan and Papiss Cisse.

That could mean that Massadio could get his first premier league start of the season at Old Trafford, and we have to think he has been impressive in training to even make the bench, with so much competition around.

Newcastle have a great chance against a Swansea side weakened by injury, and the lads will be going all out for our fifth Premier League win in a row, and if we can do that, we could be very handily placed tonight in the league table, and above out current 6th place.

For Swansea, former Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge is on the bench.

Howard Webb of Yorkshire is the referee.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Swansea City (4-2-3-1): Michel Vorm; Dwight Tiendalli, Chico Flores, Ashley Williams (c), Ben Davies; Jose Canas, Jonathan De Guzman; Jonjo Shelvey, Alejandro Pozuelo, Pablo Hernandez,; Alvaro Vazquez
Substitutes: Gerhard Tremmel, Jordi Amat, Neil Taylor, Leon Britton, Wayne Routledge, Roland Lamah, Nathan Dyer

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Moussa Sissoko, Cheick Tiote, Yohan Cabaye, Yoan Gouffran; Shola Ameobi, Loic Remy
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Vurnon Anita, Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi, Papiss Cisse

Referee: Howard Webb (Yorkshire)

No problem with us being unchanged , I just hope Cabaye & Sissoko keep their heads and don’t make any rash challenges .

We will need them both if we want something from Old Trafford .

@1 HBA not making the bench is a surprise, starting 11 is not.

HBA not on the bench!? What gives, Pardew? Hope there isn’t more to that. HBA hardly the kind of personality to take that one lying down?

    Unless he’s injured?

Intriguing choice. All out for this match, if we win, no pressure on the Man U match, so can experiment and let loose a little, is the thinking, I reckon.

Sensible decision imo by Pardew to go with an unchanged team.

We’ll soon find out why HBA isn’t on the bench.

Perhaps, as somebody noted earlier, Pardew isn’t happy with HBAs lack of professionalism when readying to bring him on in the dying seconds against West Brom. Maybe.

I am very surprised it’s an unchanged team. Percy must be hoping for a couple of goals lead and then park the bus/use subs when we’re ahead. Shola surely cannot play 3 games in a week. Bright side is Percy is going for it.

Hba isn’t on bench as pardew knows this is not a match he will use him. He will start against man utd without a doubt IMO. He’ll be fresh and raring to go. Great management from pardew here to get the best out of him for next game

First11 not bad, subs look good upto midfield but Sammy, Obertan and Cisse as our attacking options shows where we are weakest still. Would you really want to rely on 1 of them coming on to snatch or make a goal if you are losing?

January recruitments for attack are a must…but bring on tonight, expecting a good performance and hoping for 3 points..

Unsurprising team, probably fair enough. Madness not to have Ben Arfa on the bench though, he’s either injured or spat the dummy, bad news either way imo because there will come a time when his class will be needed

Look out for the following classic Coloshitty traits:

    1. Not contesting headers
    2. Drifting to the full back position to heroically help Santon and Debuchy even though they did perfectly fine without his help against Chelsea and Spurs
    3. Diving into tackles unnecessarily
    4. Charging out of defence unnecessarily
    5. Being a complete and utter liability

Look out for these 5 traits.Cheers

Good might give him the kick up the ars3 to jump start his season

Maybe just a knock, but if it’s because he’s had a paddy about places then he’s right to leave him out altogether

Chances of NUFC collecting 3 points with Coloshitty in defence. Slim

Chances of NUFC getting a clean sheet tonight with Coloshitty in defence. None

‘Ben Arfa’ is trending on Twitter, goes to show what a surprise this is.

Pardew is inviting Murphy’s law upon himself, if this is indeed a Managerial decision.

How can a wizard like Ben Arfa not make the bench? he would make any other bench in the world, such is his unique talent that can change a game, if really needed.

Not really a big surprise – a shame, but not a surprise!

…wonder if AP suffers from some sort of fear of what might happen if he makes changes or maybe it is just a case of good old “old mindset” 😉 lol

If Shola of Remy get injured then we’d be in the same situation seeing as neither HBA nor Marv are CF’s

god there’s some miserable sods on here. We’re the form team in the league and we’re 45 minutes from kick off. Shola has been a beast recently, Remy likes playing with him and Goofy is a dark horse. The first 11 is great and hopefully will put us a couple up before we put the likes of anita and Mbiwa on to see out the last 30 minutes.

Cheer up and let’s try and support the team til circa 10pm, then we’ll know if the line up was shit.
