There will probably be a scramble for Loic Remy in the summer, when his season long loan deal at Newcastle ends, and Swansea could be one of the clubs in for the French International striker.
Loic Remy – Newcastle are number one
Or is that “I’m number one”?
Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has revealed that Newcastle striker Loic Remy was a Swansea target in the summer, when Newcastle skilfully wrapped up the loan signing of the Frenchman for the season, and if Remy hadn’t had that rape trial coming up – he would have been signed permanently by Newcastle in August.
But now with this excellent form – Loic’s scored eight Premier league goals so far this season – bigger clubs will be coming in for him this summer – with Arsenal and other big European clubs likely to be interested.
This is what Laudrup – the former great Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder, who was capped 104 times by Denmark – had to say about Loic:
“He’s really a player. I like him a lot,” “He was one of the players I was interested in last summer. There’s no doubt about that. “He is a player that I like. He has everything. He has speed, individual quality and goals.”
Loic seemed a bit off form on Saturday in the 2-1 win against West Brom, and he could even be rested tonight, with Papiss Cisse maybe getting a run-out.
But with Loic in such good goal-scoring form, it would be a risk the Newcastle manager would be taking if he is not in the starting line-up for tonight’s game at the Liberty Stadium.
We need those goals to win the game tonight.
