Can Newcastle (Ever) Win At Old Trafford?

8:20 am, Friday, December 6th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 12 Comments

We’ve had a quite a few draws at Old Trafford, and last year  we went for it and lost 4-3 in this same fixture, but the last time we won at Old Trafford was way back in 1972, which is 41 years ago.

Certainly David Moyes will want to get the win after hos former club Everton won 1-0 on Wednesday night and are now 5 points above the Red Devils, while Newcastle are one point ahead on 23 points after 13 games.

Against Swansea 56% though Newcastle would win and 11% thought we’d lose that game, so it was a surprise result and rather a poor display that we need to makes amends for at Old Trafford if at all possible.

Let us know how you think the game will go on Saturday, and it;’s the early kick-off game at 12:45 am.

    Reckon we’ll get a point

this game could go anyway, both us and man utd are inconsistent this year.

could get a 3-0 stuffing or our biggest win at their place….anything is possible this season it seems.

Also for all those here who think this blog is depressing/full of stupid comments read the BBC site. It’s terrible, people there over react so badly and have such little knowledge.

I thought we might have won this one until that debacle on Wednesday night.

If Pardew starts the same eleven as he did vs Swansea it will only prove how unadaptive and clueless manager he is
how can you start with ameobi and colo/willo against one of the fastest teams and not give a rest to cabaye/tiote (who will start at old traford again) is enough for me

why change the team that was playing well?

ameobi was right to start at swansea, he did well again the quick play of chelsea.

I agree on colo, much prefer mbiwa with willo. Colo may be more experienced but we need some pace in the middle, but we also need willo for his aerial ability…so colo needs to miss out. Just my take on it though.

He has to start with Cabaye, Tiote, Sissoko/Anita in CM would drop Shola. Drop Williamson 2 mistakes in 1 week (both punished by goals). Excellent post by TDS yesterday regarding our captain, to add to it this excuse of his “head isn’t in it” he wanted to leave last season but was still the best defender at the club. Let me think….Argentine international or Championship standard defender?

Willo won’t be need because Man UTd don’t go long to a forward man

Push Cabaye higher up with Gouff, Marv/HBA interchanging

asenski – To be fair most people thought an unchanged team was the way to go – very easy to be wise with 20 – 20 hindsight. I agree with transfer I would play MYM instead of Colo. I’d be tempted to rest Shola and pack the midfield but often when we do that we have no out ball so it is a bit of a dilemma.

    TOON win Why not!!!!

Need a little bit of luck that deserted us at Swansea.

Yes we gave possession to Swansea but they do that to most teams.
Yet we came clsest to scoring great save by Vomm from Remy’s header.
should of had a penalty for hand ball.
They huffed and puffed without hurting us until Krul’s clanger – instead of pushing the ball back into play blindly should of push it out for a corner.

After half time we were the better team until push in back on Gooofy – penalty no. 2 but know they broke and scored a lucky goal.

    Then our heads went down.

I would play the same team – if had to make a change bring in MBiwa for Colo.

But I am not the manager

Win? Not if Howard Webb is the referee we’ve got no chance. :)

For the sake of any Toon fan under 50 who can probably not remember the last time we turned over ManU in their own backyard, lets hope this is the time. HTL!

I agree with Martoon..Probably MYM for Colo and Ben Arfa for Shola or later on if things arent going right lol…but do we need Shola’s physical presence?
