We May Give One Or Two A Chance Tomorrow

We thought Alan Pardew would make  a number of changes for the game at the Liberty Stadium on Wednesday night, but he started the same side that beat West Brom 2-1 last Saturday, and it seems like he’s not thinking of making too many changes for tomorrow’s game at Old Trafford either.

Alan Pardew – may not make many changes tomorrow

And after having a harrowing journey back to Newcastle after the game on Wednesday night, when high winds caused some problems, Alan is hoping (like the rest of us) that Wednesday night was just one of those nights:

“Hopefully it’s a one-off slip up but as you know it’s very difficult to win Premier League games.” “In every game the opposition give you a different set of problems.”

“Man U will be different to Swansea, it might be that we need to tweak the team a little bit, and give one or two a chance, but it might not be this occasion so that’s the kind of call we debate as a staff.”

So it seems that Alan Pardew is not contemplating too many changes for tomorrow’s line-up, even though this is our third game in seven days, and there are players pleading with Alan for a game – like Hatem Ben Arfa as one example.

But tomorrow is another big test of this side, and we’ll see if our lads can come bouncing back after what was a big disappointment in South Wales.

If we can get the win tomorrow, and break our 41 year duck at Old Trafford – that would be simply tremendous – and that’s probably a huge understatement right there.

Let’s check how much wine we have in the fridge. 😀

Howay The Lads!!

I still think we need to go for mbiwa and willo.

We need a CB good in the air for long balls or for set piece defending.

We also need pace, which mbiwa has.

for me they are the only two we should be playing, I appreciate some will disagree, but i think that’s whats best for us

We’re too fragile as a team. That blog about the lack of goals was a good read, we have absolutely no ability to pull teams apart. It’s always grab a goal or two and hang on like a championship team in a cup game. That needs to change, as we have seen, if we don’t get the goals we end up getting run ragged by bang average sides.

How far is Old trafford from Newcastle. I imagine pardew would not like to take a flight.

He can then claim tiredness too. 😛

Just a 2 and half/3 hour drive but i presume they will fly….even though going through the airport will take as long, if not longer than a team bus…but i don’t know.

100%….we never seem to get on top of teams and batter them, it’s not that I think we should every game but we are so overly cautious, i’ve said this for 3 years now, we just need to keep applying good pressure, even if it doesn’t get another goal it keeps the opposition on the back foot, not inviting them on the front foot like we normally do.

Many hear have said it also.

It’s only a matter of time Willo will get found out, bit like the last 2 games…I think as a whole it’s probably best for Colo to sit the game out but only because the majority on here won’t use him as a scapegoat for the errors of Willo. MYM hasn’t become a world beater all of a sudden, cast your mind back to Everton. Colo has consistently been our best CB for many seasons, MYM and Willo partnership is built up by fans because of 2 clean sheets against Chelsea and Spurs forgetting that in the process we created a new record of which is not one for the defence to be proud of but certainly one for the keeper to be proud of, one thing Soldado and Etoo don’t do and that’s trying to get in behind or playing on the shoulder.

    Our toon.

My thoughts are that at everton Mbiwa was the better of 2 defenders and pardew took him off because he did not have balls to take colo off.

I agree, but i think none of our defenders are world beaters, Colo is still good but not what he was two years ago, people have found out to exploit his lack of pace and target that side as santon isn’t the best defender either.

What I do think though is the pairing with the most variety is mbiwa and willo, it’s not maybe out best two CB’s but gives us height and pace, which is what we need really.

    could always go for

    debuchy, willo, colo, mbiwa, santon
    tiote, cabaye
    gouff, shola, remy

Don’t know what Everton game you were watching but Jamie Carragher slammed MYM for his performance at HT for that game. I think the 2nd or 3rd goal in particular…everton launch it long and MYM backs off Lukaku, MYM then runs away from him rather than close him down!! Howay man lets not distort facts!!

Colo is better positionally, on the ball and has more pace than Willo. Willo is better in the air….in the air and in the air

Another Manager with three years under his belt is Fank de Boer and although the Eredivisie is not as competitive as the PL, it would be worth AP while to compare and contrast.

Ben Arfa to play in the hole behind Remy and let’s see M’Biwa come. In too for Willo, who may be injured or Colo?
It might also be worth bringing Anita in for Sissoko as I don’t think we would lose too much and it will freshen the team up and tomorrow we need to keep possession and frustrate the Mancs.
Howay the Toon, they are there for the taking.

Any correlation between Coloccini coming back and conceding 4 goals in 2 games? He might be our captain but Mbiwa and Willo were looking solid after 2 clean sheets against good opposition, why change something when it’s working?! Big mistake Pardew. I think Santon needs to get dropped, would like to see Haidara and Dummett getting more opportunity. Ameobi shouldn’t be starting, he’s an impact sub around the 60 minute mark, that’s all! This should be the team against Man Utd:

    Gouffran-Remy-Ben Arfa
