The five Frenchmen signed in January have all done well this season, with only Massadio Haidara not playing regularly for the first team, mainly due to a few niggly injuries he has picked up, but he could still be given a start today at Old Trafford today, such has been his form in training at Benton.
Mathieu Debuchy – fast beaming one of best right backs in Premier League
Mathieu Debuchy, Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran have been starters ever since they joined the club in January, with Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa already having played 33 times for Newcastle, and surely will soon be starting in the side – at some position along the back four.
Yoan Gouffran – has been excellent for Newcastle
Mathieu Debuchy is looking like one of the best right backs in the Premier League, and he was our best player again on Wednesday night at Swansea, and as usual worked his socks off for the side, and is fast becoming a star player at the club, and a real fan favorite.
Of the five players, the most surprising has been Yoan Gouffran, who also works his socks off for Newcastle in every game, and has already played 32 times for Newcastle with 8 important goals, and he was simply a steal at a reported fee of £1.5M from Bordeaux in January.
You’ve got to say that the five Frenchmen brought in during the January transfer window, plus Loic Remy on loan in the summer, have all been great signings for Newcastle at reasonable transfer prices – and they are all making their mark at the club this season.
Now we need Loic Remy to realize that he can have a really great career on Tyneside, and that he even owes the Tyneside club something for staying behind him and bringing him in on loan, after he rejected us at the last moment last January.
Loic could make a great choice by signing for Newcastle next month on a permanent basis, and that would give a huge boost to Newcastle United.
Here’s hoping Loic will see the sense in doing just that.

Comment #1Sissoko loses the ball a bit to much, hopefully not today.
Goofy is my player of the season so far.
Debuchy is a class defender not scared of anything.
MYM had 1 bad game this season and should be in with Colo. Get rid of Williamson.
Haidara is just as good as Santon going forward and much tougher in the tackle.

Comment #5Brilliant that some of our once dead cert starters are struggling to make bench BUT really WTF … They should be pressing harder and assisting with more attacking play!
Hope we come out firing today and keep up the momento to the end!!!
Gotta be must Win
