Are Newcastle Really Interested In This Player?

8:51 am, Sunday, December 8th, 2013 by Ed Harrison · 8 Comments

We’ve been linked with a number of goalkeepers since the summer, and maybe Alan Pardew wants to bring in a third goalkeeper who has experience playing in the Premier League, but that’s not what the news reports have been saying.

John Ruddy – Newcastle interested?

There’s a report in the Sunday People today that Newcastle are looking at Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy, and that’s in case Tim Krul leaves the club he’s been at since the summer of 2005, when he arrived from Holland as a 17 year-old.

We suppose Newcastle must always be ready to replace a player, just in case a club comes in and matches the Newcastle (make that Mike Ashley’s) valuation of a player, which tend to be high.

Newcastle haven’t lost many of the their top players in the last few years, with the exception of Andy Carroll, bit only because Liverpool and former Newcastle manager Kenny Dalglish were willing to pay an astronomical £35M in cool cash for the striker, almost three years ago.

Andy flopped at Liverpool and is now at West Ham United, who are in a relegation struggle, but the Gateshead lad has been out injured all season.

We suppose if a club came in with a bid close to £20M for Tim Krul, Newcastle would sell him, and maybe that’s why Newcastle are checking on goalkeepers – always assuming these reports are true.

Fraser Forster – Newcastle could bring this goalkeeper home

But we aren’t big fans of Ruddy, and if we have to bring in a goalkeeper then former Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who is now an England International, would probably walk down from Glasgow Celtic to join his home town club – so Fraser could be a better buy – because he’s got real links to Newcastle.

And the 6’7″ Fraser has said recently he’d love to play in the Premier League – and at Newcastle too.

What do you think?

Interesting that Pardew said after the game that if he can get HBA performing the right way for the team we will have some side.

Imo the way to do that is 451 with HBA wide right and Sissoko in the middle of Tiote and Cabaye.

For all the stick HBA has taken about his lack of defensive duties he got dropped because he wasn’t performing consistently offensively. If Pardew can bring a maturity and consistency to HBA’s game this team will go up another notch.

We are doing well and are a good side a couple of signings next month and we could push for a European place but Ashley will be looking for some way to make a mess of it and upset the club, It’s a nightmare with him in charge.

    ToonMatt
If Freddy was still in charge we would be where Portsmouth are now, look at Ed’s post. Only Carrol sold for 35 million not bad in seven years for an owner who wants to make money.

Saxonfenken, There is absolutely no proof at all that we would be where Portsmouth are now, Your just making things up and I’m not just on about Ashley selling players he will pull some kind of stunt to damage the club IE Joe Kinnear? and he does make money? Where do you think the TV money and all the other income goes? give your heed a shake.

Ashley has his critics, of which i am one, but i fail to see the point of continually, coming on here and being negative about how the owner is and what he will do next? It really is an old song your singing, which has been played continually on here, a song which is also slowly going out of tune?

If any player is sold, then he will be sold for a reason and will also be sold for a profit, read the artikle Ed has written before commenting on how bad or indeed how good Ashley is?

Its taken Pardew more than a year to get us playing as a Team, and yesterday the balance was just about right which is why we took the three points from Old Trafford for the first time in 40 years.

Krul was bought for 200,000 quid in 2007 from Den Haag when he was 17 years old, if he goes he should not go for any less than 25 Mil, and maybe Ashley will demand more for him because he,s that good. The same with Cabaye and also Hatem i believe.

We were all amazed when Kinnear came back to a comical appointment when you look at it, but there is nowt anyone on here can do about it? The guy is and continues to be seen as a clown, who knows what he,s like with his scouting but i perish the thought of any prospective signings being arranged by him and only hope that Carr has an influence on what he does?

Stop trying to start arguments with other bloggers on here !

NEWEXPATMAGPIE, I’m not trying to argue I just don’t like the way Ashley runs this club and I want to see some ambition as do most fans.

I THINK MIKE ASHLEY HAS BROUGHT STABILITY TO THE CLUB SOMETHING THAT WE HAVENT HAD FOR MANY A YEAR. TRUE HE DOSENT GO OUT AND SPEND 100S OF MILLIONS BUT LOOK AT THE STATE SPURS ARE IN BY DOING THIS PEOPLE NEED TO TRUST IN WHAT HE IS DOING I THINK THINGS ARE LOOKING UP FOR NEWCASTLE . BIG MONEY SIGNINGS DOES NOT MEAN BIG SUCSESS LOOK AT FALAINI 27 MILLION . THEN LOOK AT WHAT WE PAID FOR TIOTE CABAYE OR SISSIKO I WOULD TAKE ANY OF THEM IN FRONT OF HIM OLD ASHLEY MAY HAVE AN AGENDA BUT ITS WORKING AND WORKING WELL.
