Newcastle Star Has Knuckled Down – To His Credit

Alan Shearer has been interviewed today, and he has talked about Yohan Cabaye and how well he has been playing this season for Newcastle, after wanting away in August when Arsenal; made a £11M bid for him, which was way short of the £20M owner Mike Ashley wanted for his favorite Newcastle player.

Yohan Cabaye – after scoring the winner last Saturday

Of course the Frenchman is suspended for the game against Southampton on Saturday, but Alan Shearer has praised the Frenchman for keeping his word to the Newcastle fans, and doing his talking on the pitch.

This is what Alan said today:

“There was talk before the start of the season of him going to different clubs,” “It was rumored that Arsenal were in for him. To be fair to him he’s got his head down and knuckled down and is playing some excellent football.”

“I think the fans deserve a little bit of credit for the way they backed him, and showed him how much they want him to stay here. It might have been different if they had turned their back on him.”

“But they gave him a great reception in the first couple of games. It has certainly helped him. He is playing very well at the moment.”

Southampton have a number of injuries to their players – and Artur Boruc, Victor Wanyama, Guly do Prado, Nathaniel Clyne, Kelvin Davis, Morgan Schneiderlin and Danny Fox will all miss the game on Saturday.

But the Saints gave Manchester City all they could handle at the St. Mary’s Stadium last weekend, with their patched up side, and they were the better side in the 2-2 draw.

It will be a tough game on Saturday for Newcastle, and we would be doing very well if we can win this home game.

What do you think?

I know it’s good cabaye is focused but at the end of the day it’s the minimum required really. Not sure how much in the summer was his fault or forced on him, not going to speculate but it’s good to have him back.

Still think we could see a lot more from this team with a more talented manager, not that I don’t enjoy the current way we play just would be very very interested to see what a proper passing manager would get from them.

Tough game against a good side and these are the teams we will be finishing around so could do with 3 points.
Loving what the Saints have been doing, full of English talent and a very talented manager who will go on to big things!! Would take Lallana off them in a heartbeat!!
Cabaye will be a miss as he is class, definitely a touch of Xabi Alonso in his play which we miss when he hasn’t been playing.

Will be a hard fought game but with the pace and power we have in the squad should be enough to clinch it.
