There’s news again today that Newcastle United are getting closer to signing young Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha on loan next month for the rest of the season.
Wilfried Zaha – coming to Newcastle on loan
But we wonder if this is a good deal for Newcastle, because presumably the 21 year-old will help us in the second half of this season only – and that’s it?
And since he will be on loan, Newcastle will need to play him in games, and therefore he could get preference over other players not starting in the side at the moment – such as Ben Arfa, Jonas Gutierrez and young Sammy Ameobi, and that seems strange, to say the least.
We should be giving our own youngsters opportunities to play, and not doing that for other clubs’ youngsters.
And a majority of Newcastle fans – 70% at the time of writing – don’t think this will be a good move for Newcastle next month.
Maybe there is more to the move than we know about, but even though Wilfried has had a rough time of it at the Red Devils this season, and has hardly played, if he was to be let go by the Red Devils in the summer, his transfer fee would still likely be too much for Newcastle.
An if he isn’t going to be let go – then what are Newcastle doing taking him on loan?
Wilfired signed from Crystal Palace for £15M plus £2M add-ons last January, and while Newcastle had been interested in the player for some time, we couldn’t match that fee.
So at least on the surface, this looks a bit of a strange move by Newcastle.
What do you think?

Too expensive (wage) for us. He won’t be like Sturridge or Lukaku.

For somebody who claims not to listen to the mischeif makers or nasty Elves or whatever is in your head, you have already reposted somebody elses long winded post twice in the hope of stirring ill feeling against Ruddy, something I don’t really think needs much promotion.

Comment #3Zaha = younger version of Ben Arfa, too often trying to do too much on his own and running into blind alleys. He would offer nothing different and would only limit Ben Arfa’s opportunities – as well as those of S’ameobi.

Comment #4Not sure on this one
cos sometimes clubs put in a clause that the player out on loan has to play a certain no.of games.
Yes we need someone wide but!

You seem a control freak. Just post your own opinions and stop trying to police the blog.

It’s seems rather bizarre situation, if true, whereby a loanee has to play a given number of games even though he may be out of firm whilst at the same time an inform permanent player sits on the bench.
I couldn’t see Zaha replacing either Goofy or Sissoko when both are playing well. If one of those got injured would Pardew select Zaha over Ben Arfa, I don’t think so.

Comment #8Basically the argument between Ciaran & TDSouth was if 4 players are leaving in the summer should we replace then in January or wait until they are gone. Ciaran wanted to replace them as soon as poss whereas TDS wanted to wait because you would be paying double wages. They both had valid points but to me the club must know their status better than us. For instance they must know if they are going to give Shola another contract, if not then Ciaran is probably right we should be looking now for a replacement. In the case of Cabaye it is probably unknown so we should wait.

Comment #9the lad will come good at a different team and i think we could be that team (not based on the manu game he’s had ^^ but his time at palace once settled) however anything over 6mil would be too much imo as i rate ince the better player.

Comment #10When does a rumour become news?
We don’t have an out-and-out winger, so to that extent, it makes sense if we needed to change our style to use one. But would he get games and it make sense from Zaha’s perspective?

Comment #11This is a prime example of how to load a poll, in favor of your desired result.
By the wording of the question, ‘we should be giving our own kids opportunities to play and not doing that for other teams youngsters”.
Goes to show you can fool most of the people, most of the time.
