As we mentioned earlier today Alan Pardew has said that Yohan Cabaye will return to the starting line-up against Crystal Palace on Saturday, because of his immense creativity in the middle of the park, and it’s now a question of who drops to the bench.
Vurnon Anita – the team spirit is very good
But it would well be Vurnon Anita, who had another good game in the heart of the Newcastle midfield alongside Cheick Tiote on Saturday against the Saints.
And whenever this lad has played this season, he’s always put in a good performance and he is a very tidy player – as you would expect from his Ajax background.
Vurnon has talked today about our opponents on Saturday, and Palace have improved quickly and are much more organized since former Stoke manager Tony Pulis took over as manager:
“We have won a lot of matches, and the spirit is very good,” “But we must keep it up, work hard and the next game, hopefully we win.”
“I think it will be tougher than this game because they need the points and so do we. It will be a hard game.”
Vurnon had a difficult season last season after he arrived from Ajax for £6.8M eighteen months ago, but he has now adjusted well to the Premier League, and he is one of a number of players pushing for a first team start on Tyneside.
The 5’6″ Dutch International has now played 52 times for the Magpies with one goal, and he is looking to be another very good acquisition for the Tyneside club.
He may stand only 5’6″ tall, but he could become an immense player for Newcastle in the season ahead.
What do you think?

You reckon?
Enrique so much better than Santon?
Ba and Remy would work together? Who knows.
Ba could have done a Cisse and had a barren spell.
Plus, wor Shola has done well in his appearances, bullying defences and regaining control of matches.

Comment #44The Lpool fan from Lincoln, lives in Boro just shouted over at me that the mackems were top dogs in the NE, I shouted back I wouldn’t swap their eight points for our twenty seven, let them cherish their semi final humiliation.

Comment #47I can see us signing 4 players in Jan and getting rid of deadwood. MA’s new strategy is to invest in Jan so players can gel and be ready for the new season.
In summer invest in youngsters and strengthen the academy

I don’t really think you could desribe adding one first team player to a very depleted squad, facing certain relegation before panicing and buying five players brand new to the PL, a strategy

Comment #49I too think Sunderland will go down, despite their victory last night. Something ain’t quite right at Chelsea, though it’s not my problem!
Along with them will probably be C. P. and West H., unless poor Carroll reappears…
All the above could change with Jan. transfers, like it did for us.

Comment #50If we are to believe what we have been told(!) all five signings last January were scheduled for the summer.
Then, with so many injuries and players off form, and uncomfortably close to the relegation places, they were brought forward.
That meant paying fees rather than waiting for them to be available on a free.
The fact that they were all lined up does show a measure of forward planning, does it not?
It’s not like we went out and bought just any five players, just whoever was available, to stave off relegation.
