1-2 signings if pards gets ash drunk at xmas and makes him open his cheque book :-)

  • 2 OhSholaAmeobi // Dec 21, 2013 at 5:51 PM

i know chelsea are fighting on three fronts but do you reckon de bruyne on loan would be worth a punt?

just trying to think of possible january signings that could potentially give us the ‘cisse’ boost. i think 2 domestic loans is the max. nathan dyer would be another unrealistic shout.

do you have any inner info about possible signings?
    or any presumption?

If we could get Lionel messi up top and Ronaldo in just behind or on wing I think we’ve got this league sewn up.. To be fair I’ve just fixed it so I got em on champ manager and I still finished fourth, west brom won the league so what do I know

  • 5 TorqToon // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Asenki – me?? I know nothing mate! :-)

Had a blow by blow argument not long back about sissoko. He apparently can’t play wide right and isn’t good enough for the English league.

  • 6 AaranD // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:06 PM

Tough team and tough team but from what I’ve heard we earned the win today. Palace have been tough since Pulis took over so 3-0 away to them is a good result. 67% possession and 3 goals, it shows we can play different styles and still win. I hope we add the bodies we need in Jan to push for European places as this team can achieve it!!

    i’m sorry mate ..haven’t noticed :)
apparently i’m wrong just to think you are in a God mode when transfers’ time comes :)

    Torq
Had that same argument many times mate!

Well just on me way back from the game and it’s safe to say I don’t think my lad could of gone to a better game for his first toon match!

  • 9 AaranD // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:09 PM

    *tough conditions

  • 10 TorqToon // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:14 PM

Asenki – No apologies necessary, my friend! Just learnt to keep what I hear to myself now.

TADS – won’t see many away days like today mate! Also, you called a 3-0 win, you I’m now labelling YOU, the blog ITK! :-)

We’re signing Gourcuff, Gomis and Alderweireld in jan for a total of £13m

  • 12 JP...from The Rock // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:17 PM

It sucks that I missed the match but really glad we won! Our 5th away win of the season already, and a clean sheet :) It’s all good, the players are doing great, Pardew is doing great with his tactics and subs and we look more solid and comfortable on the pitch compared to last season.

We are grabbing 3 points in games we would have lost or drawn in the past, that bodes extremely well for the future.

What would make this Christmas extra sweet would be to bolster our team with a couple of quality signings. I still feel we lack that extra bit of class especially from the bench, compared to our rivals for top 6.

If we manage to get those signings in this winter, who knows how high we can go, one thing is for sure, it’s definitely exciting! :D

Ps. I would like to see us replace Obertan as he’s just not good enough.

    HWTL

  • 13 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:19 PM

Marveaux has to be promoted on to the bench at least. Gourcuff would be a useful signing as we could do with a bit more creativity in midfield. Gomis will definitely come in but we could do with 2 strikers.

    Torq
That I did mate, felt like a rout kinda day, bad weather, fast football and a determination to my lad into a mag!
Think its mission successful, the poor little buggers lost his voice!

  • 15 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:20 PM

Shola shouldn’t be on the bench and shouldn’t be playing ahead of Cisse. Ba and Gomis would be good signings for us.

    tads

what was most pleasing was not just sitting on the lead and trying to see out the 2nd half as per.

  • 17 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:21 PM

We should splash out to sign Lukaku in the summer.

  • 18 nufc7lad // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:21 PM

    Team vs Stoke:

    Krul

    Debuchy Yanga-Mbiwa Coloccini Santon

    Cabaye Sissoko Anita

    Ben-Arfa Remy Gouffran

    Substitutes:
    Elliot
    S Taylor
    Williamson
    Obertan
    Guttierez
    Marveux
    Cisse

    Bring on:
Cisse for Remy on 60 mins
    S Taylor for Yanga-Mbiwa on 70 mins
Guttierez for Gouffran on 80 mins

    Objectives:
    Remy scores
    3 wins
    Cleans sheat
    No red cards
Make sure Sissoko doesnt get a 5th yellow of the season
Stay in the top 7 after boxing day

  • 19 AaranD // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:25 PM

No-one has a chance of signing Lukaku unles £30+ million is being spent. I’m optimistic but please be realistic!!!

  • 20 Ketsbaia9 // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:26 PM

Lukaku would want to join us though. Could be worth snapping up players on frees/loans and splashing out £30m on 1 top class player.

  • 21 NUFC_LEAZES END // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:28 PM

as much as I would love to see ben arfa back into the starting line up I think we would be best suited into bringing back shola into the stoke game since tiote will be suspended for that one and revert back to 4-4-2.

    krul
    debuchy collo willo santon
    sissoko anita cabaye gouffran
    cisse/remy shola

  • 22 manxpie // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:30 PM

rotonda but you could say the same about liverpool today and everton when we played them!?
2 managers that you have praised to high heaven
to soley blame the manager imo is stupid

  • 23 manxpie // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:33 PM

aaran… realistic and ketsbia i don’t think belong in the same sentence :)

  • 24 AaranD // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:34 PM

Come on now, Lukaku will be 1st choice at Chelsea next year and if not will not be sold unless big big money is spent. Don’t get me wrong if we spent even £20+ million on good players i’d be over joy’d but some players are out of reach.

  • 25 clinath@ed // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:36 PM

Why do people on here insist on promoting HBA to a right sided role and moving Sissoko? The right side has been as solid as a rock for about 6-7 games now.
If he is to come back in, surely as it’s as a straight replacement for Tiote, and the the middle 3 rotating to suit!

  • 26 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:36 PM

    Rotonda
That it was mate, there were some great attacking moves today,

Debuchy has to be hands down one of if not the best RB in the league, the speed the lad gets up and down the pitch is amazing!

    Sissoko was a monster again

Cabaye was simply superb, his passing was top notch and in all honest could of walked off the pitch with at least 4 goals!

Goofy grafted his @rse off again, great player!

Tiote and Anita bullied and bossed the middle of the park with some great quick passing

Willo, absolutely solid, the amount of work his does off the ball is brilliant!

Colo, fair play to him he had a great game today
Remy, not as lively as I expected him to be, looks a bit jaded, but did not realise how fast that boy was!

HBA came on with a point to prove and about bloody time! He looked great, still yet to be convinced he should be starting think he makes a great impact sub but a few more showings like that he’ll be back in the squad

Shola came on looked good, looked sharp and it was a brilliant turn to get away from the first defender and draw the penalty from parr, only surprise was he didn’t take it!

The only downside’s today for me were Krul and Santon, I’ve been a huge defender of Santon but he was poor today, perhaps he just needs a rest but a couple from haidara will push him on
Krul had some very nervy moments in what was a pretty easy afternoon, although I do think the weather played a part in that

  • 27 manxpie // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:38 PM

i thought that was tiotes 4th?

  • 28 toonarmydownsouth // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:38 PM

    clinath@ed @25
    Spot on

  • 29 ToonDarnSarf // Dec 21, 2013 at 6:44 PM

Let’s not carried away to the point that 8th place is a poor finish. Many of you predicted a bottom half finish this season so 8th place would be a good season.

I still think we could do with another striker to ensure we stay in the top 8. Someone like Shola but who also poses a goal threat please.

Would be great to challenge the European spots but I think City, Arsenal and Chelsea have much better squads. Spurs do on paper too but they need them to gel, Liverpool have a comparable squad but Suarez makes them significantly better. Man Utd have RvP and Rooney who are both top class, but apart from them I think we’re stronger. Still, they could seriously strengthen in Jan. I think we’re a similar overall strength to Everton and we’re both having good seasons.

So 8th and best of the rest would be decent, but I’d like us to finish above at least one of those teams please. :-)

    Good game, good result.
    I thought Cabaye was MOM.
We should play this formation more often. Cabaye can create so much more when he has Tiote and Anita behind him, just what we need.
Debuchy and Sissoko: what a right wing we have! Now, if we can get a little bit more out of the left flank, we can start thinking of giving Cisse another chance or play Gouffran as a striker.
