The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are ready to unload the out of form Papiss Cisse and want £10M for the Senegal striker next month.
Papiss Cisse – Newcastle may sell this player?
And that;s close to the fee Newcastle paid for Cisse almost two years ago, when we brought the striker in from SC Freiburg to partner his Senegal International colleague Demba Ba.
But the partnership never worked, although Cisse got the iconic number 9 shirt, and was off to a sensational start in the Premier League with 13 goals in 14 games to propel Newcastle to 5th place in the Premier League , and we qualified for the Europa League.
The Mirror is reporting that Russian sides Rubin Kazan and Anzhi Makhachkala, and German side Borussia Dortmund are interested in the 28 year-old, who has 27 goals in 76 total appearances for Newcastle.
However, we’d be very surprised if this story is true, especially since the sale is supposed to happen next month.
Newcastle need to keep all their players during the January transfer window, so we have a good squad, as we make a decent fight for a top six place, and maybe even a top four place in the Premier League.
And in any case it’s Sunday, when a lot of transfer stories always seem to come out – magically.

Comment #1for 10M he can go 😀 out of form and simply not good enough for NUFC…we need somebody who can score, run, hold up ball..even Gomis would be upgrade, but we should go for better like Benteke….

Comment #4It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he was sold. He’s been out of form now for a season and a half. It’s too long to keep giving him a chance. If he’s not scoring he offers nothing to the team.
If we are planning to buy gomis anyway we could use the money from cisse to by long and ince. Our squad would look fantastic with those 3 players.

Comment #5Hey, compared to our No.2 Striker, one Mr Bambi Amiob of this Parish, 14 goals in 62 apearances is positively prolific. It takes Bambi, on average, about 3 or 4 YEARS to score 14 goals!!!
Lets at least compare apples with apples!!

Comment #6Cisse, in only the time he has been at NUFC, is 4 times the striker that Sholla will be / has ever been. BAMBI isnt fit to lace Cisse’s boots in the goal scoring stakes. Lets put it in some form of perspective here eh!!!

Comment #7Another transfer window and generally they prove to be disappointing, which only highlights how remarkable the last January transfer window was for us.
I don’t quite know what to make of it. How exactly did we manage to pick up 5 quality players on such good deals when previously and after we apparently couldn’t.
What was that, planets just happened to be lined up?

Comment #8Sadly, Cisse appears to have been affected by the Wonga logo matter. A form of words from a Muslim cleric seemed to get around the problem and he agreed to wear the logo.
However, if his heart wasn’t convinced it was right to wear it, then whilst he would turn out but….. No real enthusiasm, no real drive, no luck
Cisse’s clearly a talented player and a prolific goal scorer, but if his heart’s not with us any more, then it’s best he moves on a d with best wishes from the fans, hopefully (fir the good wishes that is).

Comment #9At 28, 10mil for Papisse and spend perhaps half or less on Shane Long would be a good deal. Nevertheless, I reckon Cisse will come good again but until then, 10 million might be wishful.

Comment #10Shola contributes when he doesn’t score, Cisse doesn’t.

Comment #11As Charge says there’s more to Shola’s game to scoring. So when you say compare apples with apples then please do so, look at the whole picture and not just one aspect.
Fact is, even when scoring, Cisse others nothing else. When it became apparent he didn’t work with Ba I always said Ba was the better player.
Cisse can go. He’s not going to find a starting position in our team. Get someone who can hold up the ball, run the channels and bag about 10-15 a season. That would be fine.

Comment #12My words since a long time. Cisse is a bad player.
No fight, he`s not able to stop a ball, he´s not good
enough for NUFC.
Good bye Mr Cisse, see you in hell.

Comment #13Enough with the Shola bashing! He’s helped the team to some brilliant victories without scoring.
Sadly, I suspect Papiss is just too good a person with too many morals and sensibilities to play well under Ashley. He may be best off elsewhere. Shame – really good bloke.

It could be that Cisse is slightly more prolific or should I say less ‘unprolific’ than Shola, but Shola has far more to his game and is much more useful to the team than Cisse.
