Ben Arfa Starts For Newcastle

Ben Arfa – back in starting line-up

The Newcastle manager has brought Ben Arfa into the starting line-up in place of the suspended Cheick Tiote for the game against Stoke City today – a good and bold move by Alan Pardew.

And Steven Taylor finally makes the subs bench and may even see some playing time in the second half today.

Shola had been half expected to come back into the side if it was a 4-4-2 formation, but Ben Arfa is given a big chance by the manager to shine this afternoon, in what is another big game for our lads.

Newcastle will continue to play in a 4-3-3 formation after playing so well like that At Selhurst Park last week, and it looks like the middle three will be Moussa Sissoko, Yohan Cabaye and Vurnon Anita with Ben Arfa,  Loic Remy and Yoan Gouffran up front.

Stoke will play in a 4-5-1 formation with former Sunderland goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen making a rare appearance for the Potters, in place of the injured Asmir Begovic.

This is an attacking side put out today by Newcastle, and we have to hope we can get all points come 5:00 pm local time this afternoon.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle: (4-3-3): Tim Krul; Mathieu Debuchy, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Moussa Sissoko, Vurnon Anita, Yohan Cabaye; Yoan Gouffran, Hatem Ben Arfa; Loic Remy
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Massadio Haidara, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Steven Taylor, Gabriel Obertan, Papiss Cisse, Shola Ameobi

Stoke (4-5-1): Thomas Sorensen; Geoff Cameron, Ryan Shawcross, Marc Wilson, Eric Pieters; Jonathan Walters, Steven N’Zonzi, Glenn Whelan, Charlie Adam, Oussama Assaidi; Peter Crouch
Substitutes: Jack Butland, Marc Muniesa, Wilson Palacios, Kenwyne Jones, Marko Arnautovic, Andy Wilkinson, Stephen Ireland

Referee: Martin Atkinson (Yorkshire)

I hope this means sissoko and Anita are playing defensive midfield with Cabaye ahead of them.. 4-4-2 with coloshitty in defence and no Tiote to guard him could end in disaster

Very impressed with Pardew recently he is making some brave decisions that he struggled to make last season

Arfa has done well recently when coming on as a sub but he has to get the team work ethic wherever he plays I hope its a free role because Sissoko and Debuchy are great on the right

This is his time to shine and be our Suarez because he has the skill but does he have the heart and desire to be a top player? Guess we will find out today

If Benny plays wide right and Sissoko CM what does Pardew do next match if Benny has a stormer?

Cabaye will come back for sure so who would make way? Will be interesting.

My shout is 4 -1 to the Toon. Benny to score twice. He’ll be mean are raring to go – and will delight the crowd. He will without doubt be the most skilfull player on the field -and needs to show everyone what he can do.

    Bills,
Did you mean Tiote, if your scenario happens then he should keep the same team and maybe Tiote will think twice about the amount of bookings he gets.

    HD,
STaylor is on the bench probably because of his ability at CB and RB and how well he has played in training.

Yanga Mbiwa is also there, could do the same thing, some may say better than Taylor.

    Lets put us this way.

I would have gone for an attacking option. Marveaux may be.

I get your point but if Obertan is getting the nod before Marveux then something is obviously amiss with the bloke.

    @Jail for Ashley

If Marveux is match fit then its got to be the end of the road for him at this club cant remember the last game he played for us although if it was not for his last minute through balls against Stoke and Fulham last year we would have been down so his time here has not been all bad

Obertan is gash though would rather have Sammy on the bench than him especially if all he is brought on to do is run the clock down

His situation is eerily similar to Xisco.

    Ginola

    Too many big words?

Will be interesting to see if HBA can seize his chance, god knows he has been given plenty of them to prove his worth. Can he do it from the start of a game or will he forever be an impact player from the bench?

The way I see the formation is Sissoko into the middle along with Anita and Cabs with HBA RW. Hope to see Sissoko play the Tiote roll and allow Anita and Cabs freedom to roam.

Good team thought Pardew would go with Shola to counteract Stokes aerial threat but this way they will be chasing shadows and we should dominate possesion as we did at Palace HWTL

    Santon,
Obertan should have been a defender, his ability to break up a fast flowing attacking move is second to none.

    MARVO
the big reason as to why marvo is not even on the bench is last year he was unhappy with not getting into the starting 11 and their was an argument between him and pardew too, basically pardew knows marvo is not happy to be only a sub and right now he is never getting into the starting 11 when not even HBA is a starter,
yes he might have played in the league cup but that has lots of players who are not normally starters or bench players Sammy is not on the bench dummett is now off the bench hadaira.

They Board need to see how Saylor fairs up in coming games and with transfer window open next week .. AND if we pick up Europe we need experienced cover (so y buy CB)

Pards picked a canny team there (on paper) but very similar to ones that have let us down this season 🙁

HwtL .. Pls get us the 3 (hope mancs lose .. And everton) .. That’s the big move in the puzzle
