Newcastle have had their best start to the first 17 league games of the season since the great Sir Bobby Robson was managing the club, and the Geordie spirits on Tyneside are soaring, as we may even have a very good side again.
Alan Pardew – not many fans moaning about Newcastle’s league position
This is what Alan Pardew has said today in the local papers as he prepares his side for the important game at home against Stoke City this afternoon, as he seems happy enough that the Magpies are just below the radar screen right now:
“We’re not fully part of it, which is great.” “We don’t mind that. We go along under a radar a little bit.” “But sitting on 30 points, and above Man United, I don’t think any Newcastle fan would moan about that.”
“It’s been a terrific season so far.” “Like all seasons, you’re going to have the odd day where it doesn’t go well – we’ve had a few of those – but not many.”
“If we can keep those down, we’ve got a great chance of doing something special.” “It’s fairly obvious that we’re going really well.” “We just need to try to keep our feet on the ground and stay with that pack if we can.” “
It’s always about setting up the next game.” “We’re now looking to beat Stoke to set up the Arsenal game. We haven’t looked further than that.”
We’re sure there are some fans who still moan about Alan Pardew as manager, and definitely some who still moan about owner Mike Ashley owning the club, and most of that is of his own making, if truth be told.
But we suppose there will not be too many of those protest marches in Newcastle any time soon, as long as we stay high up in the league table.
But we could be wrong on that too. 😀

Comment #3I think people are bright enough to separate the way the club is run from the way the team is managed.
The former is dire, the latter generally brilliant. when it does go wrong AP says so. Bloody good manager.
Doesn’t mean we should get off Ashley’s back.

Besides that Sunderland lost…. That came after the march if I rememebr correctly. lol
But…. I hope it isn’t a coincidence. I hope the manager really instilled into the players the severity of that loss. I hope the results we are seeing are a result of that loss. Because what else is there to do when you lose to the Scum?…. except to get 19 PTS from your last 8 games.

Comment #6American Magpie – That loss hurt and hurt badly. To roll over for the scum is never acceptable.
Since then, they seem to have found some belief and look a much, much better side – long may it continue. If we can add a bit more class with a good signing or two, we would be in a great place to push in in the 2nd half of the season!!
