Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Newcastle United v Stoke City - St James' Park

Let us know who you think was Newcastle’s best player in the 5-1 romp over Stoke City this afternoon was, after referee Martin Atkinson had sent two Stoke players off just before half time, the first when Stoke were 1-0 ahead, but Glenn Whelan was sent off for picking up his second yellow card after 40 minutes, and Marc Wilson got a straight  red when he impeded Loic Remy, when he was through on goal, but both decision were very harsh on Stoke.

But, OHHH MYY!! That game was a joy to watch!

HBA is just pure magic! He is a magician on the pitch!

Remy did good to get the 2 goals! forget that penalty,

Gouffran was the same old Gouff!

    Cabaye was awesome!

    Defense had nothing to do….

Guarantee a goal next weeek against arsenal!

    Ben Arfa = Best player.

Cabaye = The player that won us the game.

I have to give it to Cabaye… his intelligence was the game changer.

Has to be the ref today, I seriously don’t think we would have won that 11 v 11, though he made a couple of iffy decisions against us in 2nd half (probably affected by decisions that went for us in the 1st half)

Don’t want to hear that Atkinson was man of the match! I want all the decisions to have been correct.

3 pens 2 red cards transformed Newcastle from being a team that looked to loose into a team that was sure to win.

next game against arsenal needs to see the return of tiote.

11 v 11 we lose that game, ref gave us the game but our lads were keen enough to take it. Predators which was great to see

2 harsh red cards completely changed the game, so of course he had a hand in it, but we remained professional and got the job done.

Arfa hit the post 3 times and won penalty. I go for arfa as a spectator he is such a joy to watch on the ball.

Cabaye is turning into one of the most accomplished CMF in the EPL if not Europe. Consistent top or world class performances. The way he hit the ball for his goal was sublime, cultured – beautiful goal.

The Ref actually wasnt that bad in the 1st half, not a lot he could do, really. He was so much more lenient in the 2nd half or Stoke would have lost another man and probably 2 more booked!!!

The first half performance from us was poor and if we play like that on Sunday, the Arse will bounce us all over the park, we could end up 0-4 down at half time again!!

Drop Santon for the Arsenal game Walcott will rip him apart and bring Mbiwa and Tiote back in at the expense of the motm Ben Ten !

it was one harsh red card, two yellows for what should have been two free kicks and nothing more, the second gave the ref no option, last man bringing a player down IS a red, thats the rules, but certainly the first was pathetic, but how often do we find ourselves on the wrong side of these decisions, so lets put it down to decisions owed, but we must also say that we took full advantage, so credit to them for that

Santon again did not impress me. No wonder Haidara is coming on for him. That said, Haidara could have crossed the ball a bit better into the box, but I see him as a more accomplished defender than Santon.

HBA as I mentioned before needs to know when to power a shot and when to place it. He could have had a hat-trick today.

Remy again very clever turn and play to win us the pen. He should have done better with his pen but a good save none the less.

Cabaye’s intelligent play got their player sent off and scored a beauty, his overall lay was very goods also.

MOTM- has to be between HBA and Cabaye, I gave it to Cabaye in the end as HBA was little wasteful in great positions to score.

Our best team and subs bench for me
    CB- Williamson
    CB- Colo
    LB- Haidara
    CM- Sissoko
    CM- Cabaye
    CM- Tiote
    RW- HBA
    ST- Remy
    LW- Gourffan

    Subs bench
Elliot Yanga-M’Bwia Santon Anita Marveaux Cisse Shola

But Marveaux does not get on the bench even though he is better than Obertan and Sammy who seem to be the subs just for a back up winger.
But in January I like to see a top top striker, a top winger like Assaidi he is a good player with skill or I like to see us get Tom Ince he will cost around £4m if he does not sign a new contract and has a potential to be a £20m player. Also a creative midfielder like the way Silva, Hazard, Coutinho, Ozil and Kagawa(if he got a chance) can get that final pass, like potentially Cabella can.

Cabaye edges Ben Arfa for me for his work while there were 11 Potters on the pitch. (HBA was always going to run riot 11 v 9.)

Not to rain on the party, but we were 2nd best until the reds, and Sissoko was awful during that period. His pace and power are awesome AND seductive for us supporters. But he lacks vision and is a poor passer; he is not suited to play in the middle of the park.

I hope our first half showing doesn’t persuade Pardew to abandon the 4-3-3 (or a 4-2-3-1 variation thereof) against Arsenal. He just needs to flip Ben Arfa & Sissoko. Play Benny through the middle, and Sissoko wide right!
