Alan Pardew BBC Interview After Arsenal Loss – Video

It was really one piece of poor defending that beat Newcastle today against a good Arsenal side, and we didn’t really deserve to lose this game, but there’s not much in these tight games in the Premier League – it was very close.

Alan Pardew – we deserved something from the game

Here is Alan’s BBC interview after the game – and hey,  it was just one of those games and unfortunately things didn’t go for us.

Credit to Pardew he got it spot on today, we didn’t create a lot but going up against a side that is going to challenge for the title we gave a real good account of ourselves, more than holding our own and more than deserved a point

I think it’s one of those situations where when you get nothing sometimes people say well why didn’t we apply more pressure from the start, try and create a bit more. But as we know it’s not that simple.

I think we had a few chances in the first half which we could, and maybe should, have done better with but ultimately we had to keep them quiet and build into the game…same as we did against chelsea. As they get frustrated and over commit you can strike, just today things didn’t go our way.

sage yeah i see wat ya mean but he seemed to give some to them especially in the last 15 that he didn’t give to us throughout the game
the sissoko 1 could’ve have give us a good chance to score and the anita 1 where anita got the ball but got taken out with a high challenge they went on and had a chance from that

i said before with the team that started we are very good and hard to beat but lack the arfa kind of magic in the final 3rd very frustrating position for pardew but a couple of signings in jan and at least a very imposing cf could change that for us?

We have to remember that we have just played Arsenal…….a side that are expected to challenge for the title. If people look back 12 months the amount of improvement in our side is startling.

If Pardew had gone for it from the start and we lost he would have been slated so whatever he did he was going to be on a hiding to nothing from some on here.

If he gets it wrong then he deserves to be called on it but today I thought he nearly everything right and although we lost it’s a defeat i can take as we gave it everything in a game where both sides cancelled each other out and we deserved a point

i need to know how the team has improved in terms of playing the big guns this campaign because i cannot see anti-football win vs tottenham, 1shot-win vs man utd and 90 min draw for carling cup vs man city as any arguments
is the win just enough then?

yeh true, like i say those free kicks can easily result in scoring or conceding but we will never know. I’m never really a fan of blaming a ref, even for big decisions as I think you get some for you and against you, might not even exactly but never too far away.

What I think they do need to look at though is how to improve the standard of refs. It’s something I feel lets football down. I’d like them to have the ref with a mic like in rugby, so when he gives a foul we all know why and he can be held to account if consistently poor…instead of having a private report to the FA or prem league after which we don’t see and he can easily bodge.

HBA showed everything thats good and bad about him in one move when he broke down the line, cut back putting Flamini on his backside and then tried to beat the keeper at his near post instead of picking out a team mate.

He’s a great player but his decision making at times is so bloody annoying

I think it shows how far we have come this season that we can feel robbed losing to Arsenal
Massive massive credit to Pardew for that

And massive credit for the way he set up today
It wasn’t a negative set up in the least but the certainly seemed to be a reluctance from some of the lads to get in the box and support Remy and Sissoko

    So for me the positives
    – we defended well for 99% of the game
We were fantastic in our build up play
Debuchy and Sissoko have built one of the most physical dominating and lightning quick partnerships in the PL
Santon had a very good game and put some simply fantastic balls in to the box
We played some lovely quick fluid passing
Iron Mike had another great game
Pardew’s subs and timings were spot on, just a shame they didn’t impact the game
    Debuchy
    Debuchy
    Debuchy
    Debuchy
    Debuchy

    The negatives
All the fantastic build up play was wasted by a lack of support in the box and some frankly awful finishing
    Gouffran looked a bit jaded
HBA showed why he’s behind Sissoko, Sissoko constantly passes and looks for space, HBA just ran into space then looked to cut in to shoot where Sissoko would box it, especially when we’re going all out and had the box flooded, Krul went livid at him at the end and rightfully so, 1 good game in 5 sadly
Haidara, after all the hype about replacing Santon he looked completely lost with the pace of the game and made poor decisions over and over when he had cabaye 3-4 yards away in space waiting to box it
The goal, very soft TBH should of been easily dealt with by Colo or Krul

But all in all a great display but we were our own worst enemies and have to really come out the blocks in the new year to keep pace with European spots

I know, I am agreeing. Just can see why some people complain ,even though I don’t agree with any complaints, todays plan was pretty much right for me.

    Asenski

Well for me you have to remember the players and resources these big teams have, you can’t just expect a side like us to go head to head with them and win a lot.

Against spurs we had as many proper chances, they had a lot o shots but only 3/4 good chances.

Man utd was the same, neither of us did much but we made the most of our chance.

We drew with liverpool when we had 10 men.

We beat chelsea 2-0 and were well worth the win.

I think Anita provides almost nothing for attack. Sometimes way 2 much defensive. Imagine us to have Diame on that place. And yes, one fast driblling AM would be great.

Pardew the patronising c#nt he must think we are all as thick as skunki and his pals. He lost that game today because he is out of his depth. Sissoko and Debuchy were murdering Gibbs, so Pardew the the prick moved Sissoko onto the other wing then subbed him for a leftback. Anita the dwarf couldn’t handle the pace along with Santon who is shit the goalkeeper is a 6ft 4inch fanny along with Pardew.

I also hate the term “anti-football”

its defensive football, equally as important as attacking, its a term made up by teams like barca, arsenal, type teams who don’t want to play any physical game at all and just want teams to play them at their own game when they are better equipped to play it.

I agree moving sissoko to the left was a poor choice, rather ben arfa there so he can cross with his stronger foot instead of just cut in to shoot.

Anita for me isn’t too light weight at all, i think he needs to add more to his game, but wouldn’t say too light weight, he tackles well just not a brute.

As for krul, don’t think he did anything wrong today, the trajectory of the ball in and the pace meant he couldnt come, or too risky to come.

Credit has to go to pardew the turn around ib him and the team is startling but for me it highlights our need for a decent big man up top I just feel that is the missing jigsaw piece against good opposition like today cabaye behind remy just isn’t threatening enough and Anita can be to defensive with abit of height and cabaye deeper we would be so much more of a threat especially at home

We deserved a point a least. Credit to Pardew for building the squad, building up the confidence within the team and keeping the team organized and pressing for the ball together.

We are United this season more than most and it shows. Shame that today’s match also highlighted were we fall short.

We need more presence up front (strolla’s not the answer) and quick passer and dribbler from centre midfield.

We get those two type of players and we will be on fire and possibly clinch top 4 or maybe even more.

Anyone know if we’ve been linked to any players recently?

it just really winds me up…there is more than one way to play football, nothing says you must keep it on the deck, you play to suit your players.

Never hear stoke saying it’s a disgrace arsenal came here and passed it around instead of trying to lump everything into the box. It’s just because teams like barca, however brilliant, are one dimensional and as a result occasionally come undone.

    Asenski

No idea what you think is going on. Out of our games with liverpool, man utd, chelsea, arsenal, spurs and man city (big 6) we have taken 10 from 18 points.

Everton have taken 9 points from those games and sputhampton have taken 5 points.

Might look better but not as effective.

If we had been out played today then you may have a point, but today we were unlucky, yes Everton and Southampton took the game to Arsenal and won but how many other sides have done the same and been battered?

We’ve come a hell of long way in just 12 months and while I’m no fan of Pardew the man has done well so far this season for us

Thought debs was awesome today, proving right to move simpson on.Been a big admirer of anita today but its the first game I thought he looked out of his depth.
If the team stay injury free we should look for European football which is why bringing in transfer targets for jan is a must.
personally if a nufc fan cannot see the difference between the performance we put out today and the shambolic crap we were served up week in week out last term I suggest you watch more games !!

i’m the same sage but i do think refs when they hit 40 they should be put out to grass (to train the younger 1s coming through) might sound harsh but its still very physical and mentally challenging,
and at 40-45 they can’t expect to be as good as they were just like players

Well for me the only thing pardew got wrong today was moving sissoko off the right and using santon as an advanced player when we have currently got better available.

Overall Pardew is doing an ok job, can see the team improving but I still think under a martinez, rogers, hoddle, laudrupp etc (managers who would have been within our reach at one time or some still are) we would be playing better.

As it is I don’t see the owner making a change so I have to accept pardew and as long as he continues his steady improvement I am ok with it.
