Young Frenchman May Get Start Against West Brom

Ben Arfa must have a good chance of starting the game tomorrow at West Brom, but Alan Pardew has again said that the Frenchman still has to dislodge Moussa Sissoko or Yoan Gouffran from the starting eleven, and both have been excellent so far this season.

21 year-old Massadio Haidara – could get start tomorrow

But another player who may get a rare start at the Hawthorns is 21 year-old left back Massadio Haidara, who has been impressive when brought on as a sub a few times recently, including on Sunday for the last 10 minutes or so against the Gunners.

This is what manager Alan Pardew said in the Mirror tonight:

“I have got everyone fit and well and as I say, guys coming off the bench looking as if they are ready to go. With that in mind, I do not have too many problems.

“It is just about making sure we have enough energy and I actually thought both teams lacked a bit of energy on Sunday. As good a game as it was, I felt there was just a bit of tiredness in both teams.

“Massadio has come off the bench a couple of times and had two good cameos for us which bodes well and he is going to get some games this year. There is no doubt about his ability.”

“Over the next two games, all of my squad will come into the reckoning, whether they start of not, we will have to wait and see.”

It would be good to see what Massadio can do at West Brom tomorrow, and certainly the 21 year-old is turning out to be a top young player at Newcastle, and he’s made 13 appearances since signing on from Nancy in January, and he’s already played twice for the France U21 side.

And as Alan says above, he will get some games before the end of the season – maybe tomorrow?

nothing against arfa but goofy is a better passer/more assists/more goals and a hell of a lot better at going back that i honestly wouldnt want arfa in his place !

impact sub is perfect for arfa imo but not a starter unless he takes sissoko’s possition and learns to assist and score a lot more.

    On a positive note:

Can we all hope that all contributors to this super super blog – and in particular Ed and his son for putting so much energy into it, and his family for being so understanding – have as very happy and successful 2014 and the years thereafter.

To Newcastle United and all governed with the club, every good wish and a loud chorus of Howaaay the lads and a 3-0 win tomorrow.

Wishing you health and happiness* in 2014 (but not after, let’s not be greedy) and for 3 points tomorrow.

*Except for Belfast, for whom I wish nothing but sadness and misery, as always

Oh now Ibiza, your comment was a tad lacking in spirit.

However, I’m sure that Belfast, like his fellow countryman, Ciaran can survive along with his negativity.

    Best wishes to all.

After watching the Toon for over 50 years and from what I’ve seen of the boy I’ve got a gut feeling that Haidara is going to be a special player.

I used the word countryman, not countrymen!

Sadly, there are some among those from that fair land that do not do it justice.

To all irish folk, a toast to your good health and happiness.

Haidara is definitely the best (defensive) LB at the club.
Santon has been long over due to be playing as a winger again.

The issue with that is we have too many options with utility players across the midfield who are playing great to even get a space to put Santon in the team.

Sissoko would probably be the odd one out with some lackluster games he’s had recently but at the same time he offers such a unique challenge for opposition fullbacks who tend to be of the more nimble variety.

    Him or Ben Arfa.

Happy New Year to you Ed for all your time and effort into this blog. Let’s see if Alan Pardew changes things a little today. I would quite fancy 3 changes, HBA for Goufran, Cisse for Remy and Haidara for Santon?

So West ham want Cisse on loan then ?

Think that would be a good move for all parties.
