French Star – I Am Very Happy At Newcastle

Mathieu Debuchy had a header just before half time against Arsenal that smashed against the cross-bar, and then in the second half, when we were 1-0 down, he somehow managed to head a Theo Walcott shot off the line, and it’s not the first time that Mathieu has been Newcastle’s best player over the last two months or so.

Mathieu Debuchy – very happy at Newcastle

And the French International right back seems to be just loving the hectic Christmas period in England:

“It’s the first time I have experienced the Christmas and New Year football period here – in France, we have a week, maybe 10 days, off.”

“But it’s quite nice to get those games coming thick and fast and I feel more than ready to get out there and attack these next games.”

“I am very happy here, especially here in Newcastle. For a player to come here and play in the Premier League is really a wonderful thing.”

“The support, both home and away, by the Newcastle fans is absolutely magnificent. Again we have seen at home – we have lost, but they stayed back to applaud us at the end of the match.”

“I think Newcastle fans have to be some of the very best in the Premier League.” “Sunday was a setback for us, but we have to try to get back on track.”

There are 2,600 fans making the journey on the first day of 2014 to the Hawthorns, and it’s important that Newcastle get back on the winning track after the defeat to Arsenal.

And of course in a couple of days is then Newcastle signed the Frenchman from Lille a year ago for around £5.5M, and after a tough first half of the year, Mathieu has come through superbly on Tyneside, and now must be one the of the best right backs in the Premier League.

Makes you wonder why at just £5M other clubs weren’t in for Debuchy. Absolute bargain.
