Shola Ameobi Starts – Ben Arfa On Bench

Shola Ameobi gets a start today at West Brom, and Vurnon Anita moves to the bench, and surprisingly that’s the only change to the side that lost 1-0 to Arsenal on Sunday.

Shola Ameobi – gets a start at the Hawthorns

It looks like Alan Pardew will play in an attacking 4-3-3 formation at the Hawthorns today with Loic Remy, Shola and Yoan Gouffran the three up front – with Sissoko being in the midfield three today.

Alan Pardew has resisted making more changes – for example to give Ben Arfa and/or Massadio Haidara a start – but presumably the manager will need to make changes for the next game at home to Cardiff on Saturday,  in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

After losing at Arsenal last time out – this is an especially important game and  we are hoping to see Newcastle get back their winning ways.

The referee for this game is Lee Mason.

Howay The Lads!!

Goofy was worn out covering santon with walcott, wba dont have that threat so he’ll be ok in this one.

A predictable away selection, have ameobi to drop into the middle and bully the CD’s. Shame really as its probably the best time to have a real go at them with HBA and Cisse ahead of him. No risks then.

Why was Gouf covering for Santon marking Walcott?

…are we still emplying babysitting tactics? (when will Nufc grow up?)

pardew isn’t ever going to be a risk taker with really bold selection or with chucking a kid into the team i don’t think…but we all know that now and his current style/system is working so fair play to him.

i would like a little more variation/invention but hey ho

when benny came on why did cazorla, flamini and gibbs have to deal with him?

it’s just teams defending as a unit

How long before Benny slaps in a transfer request? He’s actually 4th choice behind Sissoko, Remy and Gouffran, if this line up is anything to go by. Perhaps rightly so, but you get the feeling a better side might be able to make better use of him.

I going to say this before it is too late:

…if Shola spends the whole game either given the ball away when he has won a challenge our faulting every single player one the field without as much as a goal or an assist I swear I will see Red 🙁

    Transfer – last thread
Yeah its the fans that suffer and like Pompey it is the fans who have had to dig them/buy them out of the shit.

That’s where Ashley and the TOON have been clever – least most of the players we buy have a sell on price. cannot see the Mackems getting much of a sell on price for the players they have bought.

put us down for draw today – not be easy today.

goofy a hundred miles better than arfa in assist/goals/defending/passing/tackling/tracking back so pards has it perfect to use arfa as impact sub imo.

the only thing i would have changed from that team would have been mbiwa for colo.

good luck the boys today and hopefully cisse comes on later and adds to his last goal.

Cannot see for the life of me why Ameobi is starting here, yeh he did ok when he started recently, but still no goals surprise surprise and our performances have hardly suffered without him in the team. Hate how pardew challenges players (usually HBA) to get in infront of players like Sissoko and Gouffran and then starts that useless lump infront of him. Anyway rant over were doing well and I’m feeling a win, just annoys me

4-4-2 with coloshitty at the back puts a lot of pressure on Tiote. He needs to have a good game today or it will be Swansea all over again. here’s hoping for the 3 points. nothing to lose really. HTL.

I would have thought Percy would have mixed it up a bit today. I’ve read that fans at other clubs were concerned about their own players looking tired and jaded over the Chritmas period and were hoping their own players would be rotated.
I get the feeling that Percy does not have the faith in the squad which is contrary to what he tells the papers. We do however definitely need 3 new quality players if we are going to mount any sort of CL challenge this season. I therefore expect signings this window.
Better be mature players and not young bucks to give JFK the excuse he’s doing his job.

I still can’t understand why pardumb doesn’t covert Ben arfa in2 a striker, rather than teach him to track back. In time he can be our Suarez. He would be a lot more effective. We wouldn’t be bothered about remy leaving us. It would take him a few months to adjust but it would be better signing a 15 million pound striker.

pardew proves how constitent in his unprogressive approach really is
how can you not rotate players during these games
why do you have players like mbiwa/arfa/cisse and still start with the formation which played 3 matches for 10 days i do not see

Can’t believe some of the blind faith on here.

Our defenders don’t score. Tiote and Sissoko don’t score many

We cannot afford our strikers not to score.

A couple of goals against mackems cannot bring you lifetime of immunity.
