Newcastle Could Be Priced Out Of Move For Transfer Target

Newcastle always seem to haggle on the price of anybody they are negotiating for in the transfer market, and it seems there is no difference in Newcastle’s move to bring in top Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella.

Remy Cabella – on his way to Tyneside?
Manchester United were after the same player in the summer, and could still be interested in bringing the player in this month, and the price that was quoted for the player was around £14M.

But the Magpies seem to have gained a march on the Red Devils, and have moved quickly for the Frenchman, and while Montpellier would love to get the highest price possible for their top player, Newcastle must think a deal can be done far below the £14M being banded around.

But if Newcastle are to be successful for the French U21 International, it will be necessary to move quickly and we hope Director of Football Joe Kinnear can do just that, and bring in his very first permanent signing to Newcastle.

But if this thing stretches out, we may be in the same situation we’ve been with a number of our targets over the last few years, and refuse to meet the asking price of the selling club for their player.

So it could be déjà vu all over again this January, but if we do manage to sign Cabella, he will be the 7th Frenchman in a row we have signed at the club.

Here’s hoping.

I don’t expect any signings this window. Not sure we need any but the Cabella would be a great signing if we offload oberton and marveaux. Plus a possible replacement if somehow Cabeye does go which Im hoping and believing he stays and signs a new contract.

Can I say the Remy is not doing much for me. He has some clinical finishes and speed but he seems beat after 70 minutes and doesn’t offer much else for the team. Even his touch is inconsistent. I feel he could be another striker who falls out of form and is not worth 10 million. Im not saying I would take him for 7 million but we should be looking for another striker. Demba Ba offered so much more than Remy, With every game I become more and more uncertain about him.

You can just here it already – we tried and we tried, but we just couldnt get them “over the line”

That lousy Div 1 club bid £50,000 more than we believed he was worth – we really cannot compete with major players like Brighton, Portsmouth etc.

As for the last game, we needed to switch the team and freshen things up but Pardews mistake. He;s still the man and we need to stick with him. One thing was when he was talking to ben area before he came on. He must of told him to play one touch and wait for his chance. That didn’t play well as Fattem was off from the beginning.
All this he doesn’t play well with the team is a shame. Two seasons ago we had a better defensive record with him in the team than we do now. All I can see is he had a bad start this year and everyone was off last year but with the amount of goals we are barely getting he needs to be worked in or rotated every few games.

It’s early doors. Let’s keep our feet on the ground. Montpellier are still assessing the merits of our opening gambit of Oba, Marv and a flour bag of ” crusty baguettes” fresh from the training grounds canteen oven.

£14M for a player who is not a full
    France international, when Cabaye
    cost £4.5M, Sissoko £1.5M,
    Mbiwa £6.5M, Debuchy £6.5M
all full internationals – I don’t think so.

I don’t know about paying 14million but I’d like to see him signed, this guy plus a striker and we’d be in a good position to push on for Europe n then add 1 or 2 more to create a squad capable of playing in all comps

I think loaning Cisse out would do him and the club good. Cisse needs a change of scenery. I dont think keeping our number 9 on the bench is doing anybody a favour

But what we do know, is that if and when he opens it, he’ll play with the box!

Ah, a reality check on our supposed negotiating for Cabella.

The Chronicle’s take is that ‘ Newcastle United have opened up the January transfer window by contacting Montpellier about the availability…..-
    Contacting? You can imagine it:

‘Halo, halo, halo. Eez zat montpel..,er montpelli, er mont, er the French lot that’s got that Cabella fella for sale?’

    “Pardon, who eez that?”

    ‘Joe Kinnear, of Newcast……….”

    Clunk, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

RVD…that is probably true, but loaning out Cisse to WHam could potentially help them climbing the ladder and I am not interested in that 🙂

A few geniuses on here, we have 3 strikers at the club….none of them very good!! A couple suggesting we should loan one of them out (Cisse) get a grip will ya, we need all the players we can get especially upfront!! At least Cisse has scored in the PL this season!! Those supporting Pards can you all explain how Shola gets a game? He hasn’t scored a league goal in 2013!!

Our Toon…I cannot explain it but what I think is the deal with Shola is a two parter. One is that alot of Geordies like their local heroes regardless of ability or goals (top that with he is a nice bloke), the second part is some are infatuated with the kind of player he is and not the player he really is 🙂

    If that makes sense?

Shola plays because Remy needs a big hold up striker for him to pick up knock downs etc. Playing as an unselfish striker like Heskey was. Up until last two games you can’t say it hasn’t worked.

Cabella if we can get him for say a few mil and Marv part/ex and offer squidward plus cash for ince. Then still get Remy signed plus another or two strikers if he won’t. Plus the elusive extra cb as I think colo might be away sooner rather than later.

Anyone who thinks the club open talks just so they can say we tried but coukdn’t get them over the line is talking rubbish themselves.

95% of the talks the hacks say we are in aren’t true. Why some fans take it as gospel is beyond me.

It’s the only conclusion I can draw hence why we looked at gomis and why Cisse never really started alongside remy.

I’ll debate potential signings but won’t get excited until they’re having a photo done with their/our shirt.
