Bafe Gomis – On My Way To Newcastle To Join A Movement

If you follow Bafe Gomis’ twitter account  – he has today given a huge hint that he may indeed be joining Newcastle this month, after the Tyneside club were unsuccessful in getting him last summer.

Bafe Gomis – on his way to Newcastle – hope so
Here’s his twitter account and you’ll see nothing there on Newcastle, but that’s because the tweet he presumably put out has been deleted.

But this is what it said – the original being in French of course”

“On my way to Newcastle to join a movement”

And it would not be surprising if he was asked to take the quote off his twitter account, if indeed Newcastle are trying to complete the deal, and of course it could also be a fake.

Take your choice, but we’ve got to hope that the lad is finally on his way to Newcastle,  and since he’s about one third of the price he was in the summer, with his five-year contract running out at Lyon at the end of June, it seems it’s a good deal for Newcastle,  if we can get him on board.

And last week Alan Pardew said he wanted reinforcements in the striker department, because Loic Remy is not our player and Shola Ameobi’s contract at Newcastle runs out in the summer, and we assume it will not be extended.

What do you think?

Our toon… No probs mate, we all make mistakes. And yah I think you got it right. You can submit as small a squad as you want. 11 or even 10 players, but you can only ever register a squad of 17 non homegrown players. To go about 17 players in the squad, the rest would have to be homegrown, meaning trained in England (Or Wales although I aint sure about that?) since they were at least 17 or 36 months before they turn 21. So all in all, to improve the quality we can look all over the world, but to improve the squad, a certain part would have to be found on English shores, for instance Ince for Gosling.

Gomis scored 2 goals for Lyon today. I think I read the tweet was put up and then deleted moments later

Quite an outlandish statement, and bollocks no matter the source.

“and Shola Ameobi’s contract at Newcastle runs out in the summer, and we assume it will not be extended” – If Strolla is given an extension I will quit supporting this club. Even though it would be like cutting my arms off.

I get the feeling that Newcastle are not scared to let unwanted players simply wind down their contracts if necessary and to keep their powder dry in the transfer market if that’s the case.

I’d be pretty surprised if this 4 in stuff has any real legs, especially without bodies out. They might carry two extra till the end of the season though, seeing as Gos and Shola will be out of contract then and you might get your 4 in if they can shift a couple this window, prime candidates being Marv, Obertan and perhaps Guti, but the planets would have to line up.

There is rumour building that we have almost agreed a “Pre-Contract” with Nathan Dekoke. Evidently the deal is an “Agreement in Principal” between NUFC, the Player & his Agents for him to join for the coming season, rather than wait for his Contract to espire in 2014.

NO negotiations have taken place with St Etiene where the players Contract expires in 2014. If Dekoke agrees to sign the “Pre-Contract” then NUFC will have to negotiate compansation with the club!!

toontime – well spotted -I noted that OL kicked off at 1.15pm today and the tweet was at 1.21pm so clearly it was not him -I think he scored after 6 mins.- which would take the time to 1.21pm.

Mister Tuff…… Isn’t France an hour ahead of GMT?

That being so, Gomis could well have tweeted at half time -12.21 pm French time, before the game kicked off?

lads, just a heads up just been on his twitter account (which i made just to follow toon players and a few comedians),
gouffran is one i follow and it comes up on bafe’s twitter when i go on it that gouffran follows him (presumably because i follow him), and i cant see why he would follow a fake twitter

with that being said, i don’t think i’ve ever confused myself quite as much while trying to say something but….
looks like the move is on
