Newcastle Close To Signing French Wonder Kid

8:54 am, Sunday, January 5th, 2014 by Ed Harrison · 25 Comments

There is news in the Sunday press today that Newcastle are close to signing wonder kid Nathan Dekoke of St. Etienne, and we were first linked with this player a couple of weeks ago.

Nathan Dekoke

Nathan Dekoke – 17 year-old St. Etienne defender

The left-footed St Etienne defender was born in Aubervilliers and plays at center-half or left-back, and he has already played for the France U18 side and is one of the best young players in France at the moment.

Fulham are also said to be interested in the French youngster, but it’s hardly surprising that Dekoke wants a move to Tyneside, where he will find lots of French players in the Newcastle squad, and will find it easy to settle in on Tyneside.

The news is that Newcastle have already offered the player a four-year deal and the 17 year-old is the type of player Joe Kinnear and Chief Scout Graham Carr are on the look out for, and it’s not surprising that his contract at the French club also runs out this summer.

But Newcastle will still need to pay St. Etienne some compensation for the lad, although that compensation will likely be small.

Newcastle brought in 17 year-old Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu last January and then young Frenchman Olivier Kemen from Metz in July, so we’ve brought in two top young players last year.

It’s an important part of the Newcastle strategy that we spot top youngsters while they are still young, and then bring them to Tyneside to develop them into top class players, but we haven’t been too successful in making that work over the last six years.

Comments welcome.

Just been announced Eusabio has sadly passed away – brilliant player in his prime.

why bothering bringing in young players when we have totally rubbish coaches?

the main man himself has just learned the ways of potty training.

listened to the game against Cardiff and i still can’t believe we got beat by an another out of form team and also at home,

so which one of you morons well Pardew lovers still want him at the helm?

i was thinking of going back a few threads and reading some excuses some of your fans but let me take a wild guess.

    1. it was the FA we wasn’t going to win it so why bother trying.

    2. we didn’t have a strong team out – you know what though we did and what’s even worse Cardiff had there 2nd team out.

    3. did i miss anything?

My grandad always spoke fondly of the great man RIP

Has everyone calmed down now after 3 defeats in 6 days, look on the bright side were at home against city and they’re not good away. If we’re on form we should give them a game.

I think we will sign 2 players personally as 2 will leave

where’s the bright side for us to play against City?

after being robbed against Arsenal and then getting beat by 2 major out of form teams our lads momentum will be very low and honestly i would expect Man City to destroy us with probably the biggest score margin of this season.

    9-0 i reckon

I’m a Pardew supporter. We lost mate swallow it and move on, you get shocks in the cup. If you’d placed 100 pounds on a home win you would have made 72 pounds profit. Not exactly the nailed on home win you speak of is it.
Get your black and white glasses off. We’re over here in the real world

The club are doing the right thing bringing in talented youngsters, but I’m not overwhelmed with the senior players we are linked with.
Maybe we will be surprised and the names mentioned are a curve bal.
Ba was good when he was here but couldn’t wait to get away, Jonny H from Everton is mediocre at best and the goalkeeper is a step backwards if we are selling Krul.
We are in a great position to get some quality in. Hopefully AP, JFK and Mr Ashley can see we are three quality signing away from a cracking team.

9 nil with Milner playing, wake up son

    Black and white

Lets see how the rest of the season plans out. No one is happy at being out of the cup, yesterday was not good enough by any means

But don’t be such an arse and call people who don’t want pardew sacked morons!!!

It’s been a pretty decent season so far until the last 3 games. Yes, it was a disaster yesterday. Probably the most crushing of all defeats this season as we now know its another trophy less season.

But who’s to say we’re not going to go on another great run and sign a couple of decent players.

You make the mistake of calling people morons and pardew lovers who are actually level headed and diplomatic.

Eusebio: saw him play at St James’s.

would of guessed your his supporter, many who don’t know football would have pardew at the helm.

also mate if you haven’t read my other post on other threads you will know i go by performance not results, it’s hard as a fellow coach myself to watch poor performance which in a way i know i could a hell of a lot better and i’m doing level 3.

    Harley

when you get in a bad run players seem to lose all momentum, getting robbed by Arsenal then 2 out of form teams having a better performance than us many things will be playing on the players mind, remember last season

  • 19 scout // Jan 5, 2014 at 9:55 AM

I know nothing about football? Alright then
You don’t play it on bits of paper mate.
10 wins out of 20 games in this league, your saying you’d have more with your level 3 ???
It’s the ball in the net that counts nothing else, hope that was level 1

also mate when did i mention the word sack?

i said at the helm, surely ppl must realize tha Pardew is taken us no where.

  • 21 scout // Jan 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Ill give you some advice when you coach people, listen carefully to what they’re saying back to you. You say where is he taking us?? He’s doing the best he can with the players we have I’d say.

    funny because because Pardew does!

  • 23 Black and White with an army lol // Jan 5, 2014 at 10:08 AM

    scout

that’s your opinion and your entitled to it mate and i respect that, but you must look on the football style of things, we have good technical players, strong players and fast but they play defensively.

it’s either just me or there’s something wrong about it,

why sit deep on 1-0 leads?

why sit deep and go for counter attacks at home to a lesser team?

if it was against bigger teams i would fully understand but against out of form teams who have won 1 out of 10 games!

  • 24 Harley // Jan 5, 2014 at 10:22 AM

    Black and white

We’re in 8th position. Not great but not bad. Would I be happy with 8th at the end of the season and no cup runs? No.

But under the circumstances ie. a zero spend in the summer, the constant risk of a big player going, 40% of the fans against him I think pardew is doing a decent job.

If we are to implode now and go on a terrible run which ultimately ends our season then I will agree with you that he isn’t the man for the job. But I don’t call 3 losses (1 narrowly to the league leaders) imploding, I’d say more a blip.

There’s still half the season left and we have no other distractions (although I wish we did) so we can have a real go. We’ll see what the next 10 games brings us.

    Harley

but then again you are looking at the results not the performance, most games we scrapped wins and draws
