It’s obvious that Sylvain Marveaux and Gabriel Obertan do not have any future at Newcastle, and they are available this month for either a permanent move or a loan move out of the club.
Jonas Gutierrez – on his way out of Newcastle?
Obertan is frustrated at his lack of playing time at Newcastle, in the same way he was when he was at Manchester United, and it could well be he will move back to France for regular football.
And there were reports, that we should add are unconfirmed, that he walked out of St. James’ Park before the home game against Arsenal, when he didn’t even make the bench for that game.
And after impressing in the first half of last season with his skills, Sylvain Marveaux just hasn’t had a look in this season, and is also available for a permanent move or a loan move this month.
And we’re not sure why 30 year-old Jonas Gutierrez has been frozen out this season at Newcastle, and he has only a couple of appearances, after playing in 40 games last term.
However, it’s true that wide men Moussa Sissoko and Yoan Gouffran have moved ahead of the Argentine and even ahead of Ben Arfa, for the two starting positions in the side.
And there have been reports that once Jonas reaches a certain number of appearances at the club, then Newcastle would need to offer him a new deal, although we’re not sure of the truth of those reports.
Jonas has played 194 times with 11 goals for Newcastle since joining us from Real Mallorca in the summer of 2008.
But things are changing at Newcastle, and it appears that Obertan, Marveaux and Gutierrez are now surplus to requirements on Tyneside.
And hopefully this month we’ll be able to bring in some decent players,m and that’s especially true if these three are moved out.
We’ve been linked with a number of players already this month, but that’s only par for the course at Newcastle.
