Ashley, Pardew And Kinnear Hold Big Meeting On Transfers

It s not unusual that Newcastle have been linked with so many players already in this January window, and if the news is the be believed, we are making a formal bid for Montpellier midfielder Remy Cabella, and seem to be in the lead for the skillful player who can play either in the center or out on the wing.

Remy Cabella – bid made by Newcastle this week?
And since our pitiful exit at the first hurdle once again in the FA Cup last Saturday, this transfer window assumes even more importance with Newcastle still having a decent chance to finish high up in the Premier League, and at the moment we are in a decent 8th place and 6 points above 9th placed Southampton.

Pardew has talked about meeting with Ashley and Kinnear this week, and it could be the meeting will be held today on Newcastle’s January transfer business:

“It is an important time for Joe, Mike and I to talk.” “Lee Charnley, the club secretary, is involved in the process as well along with Graham Carr.”

“We’ll be having a couple of meetings to bring everything together.” “We’re all fielding different types of phone calls so we need to see where we are all at.”

“We’ll probably do that this week, then perhaps again towards the end of the window.”

Alan Pardew wants a striker brought in and we’ve been linked with Demba Ba, Shane Long, Luuk de Jong, and former summer target Bafe Gomis – and maybe even a few others.

And today the Daily Star is reporting the top two targets are Luuk de Jong and Shane Long, and that Premier League experience is important – so that doesn’t make much sense with the Dutch striker never having played in the Premier League – and having struggled mightily in the Bundesliga at Borussia Monchengladbach – and that worries us a bit about the Dutch International.

If Premier League experience is really important, then Demba Ba and Shane Long should top the list – and Demba Ba has already proved he can score goals in the Premier League – as long as he gets games –  which is not happening too much at Chelsea these days.

Demba Ba  would be our first choice from that list.

Which striker would you want brought in?

I hope this isn’t the only meeting.

Surely they could have been discussing the strengths and weaknesses before the window starts so when it does we can strike early.

Mid January and would really like to see what ambition we have. I honestly think that 4th place is out of our grasp. Do we seriously want the Europa League I’m not sure we do. So if ambition is to remain mid table this season where we are now then why buy anyone as the squad is good enough to get just over a point a game without splashing out.
Its not what I want I crave the excitement that we want to chase for that 4th spot, even if it is out of reach. Our neighbours are shocking really poor team but they have at least got a season full of challenges. Still in two cup competitions and a fight for survival, Of course I do not want to be in a relegation fight but it is nice to think we could really go out to win a match instead of playing not to lose..

i guess it comes down to what these meetings are?

Are they to finalise plans put in place and discuss progress with bids, or is it to start the planning….i guess we don’t know.

surely Joe must have been doing something the last 5 months.

    1.BA
    2.Shane Long

neither are in the world cup so have nothing much to prove this season so i would also bring in de jong to push up the competition on the strikers.

as for bafetembi i personally wouldnt buy him unless come end of jan and we have no one and he is still available then i would make a move.

move on shola the poor soul and with three strikers ba, long and jong, we will be in a better position to not desperately buy remy at the end of the season. even if we get ba on loan it would be a belta deal to propell us into the top 6 like.

DO IT! DO IT! BARCARDI AND COKE! DO IT!

Hold a meeting immediately and obtain the players right away. Otherwise it again so that the transfer window is closed and no one is obtained from the acquired. Why on earth would hold onto it until the last moment?

    Just listen to JFK:
“… go through every player.” “Even the ones who are injured – and find out what they can contribute to the club.” “I’ll give them a list of players and show them videos and tapes of the type of player we need.”

“Then we’ll discuss it. If I get the green light, I’ll go out and get them.” “It depends on the make-up of the team. Are we lightweight in these areas? Do we need really pacy wingers.” “Or a pacy striker than we can throw on later on in the game. Can we find him?”

Forget the fanfare. This makes a lot of sense. By now they must have analysed, professionally, each and every player. That should not be a fan site (or even a computer game) where people ‘fancy’ one or the other for whatever reason. They must now know what we need…

Me, just being a fan, will agree: We need a pacy tricky winger and a pacy CF. Think Navas, Bellamy if you will 🙂
Our defense is ok if people like Haidara, Mbiwa, even Dummett are out.

Then we’ll be ready to push on.

we have enough defence to last us until the summer, need to capitalise on our unreal midfield options.
we can concentrate on CBs come the summer

if i had a chocie of signings available for transfer top of my list would be

Kevin De Bruyne.- up and coming belgium superstar!
break the bank for this kid

i would play ben arfa and see if we can ship him out. he is unreal at attacking, but that is on his own, link up play, generosity, passing, and then the whole lack of defensive capabilities.

then again if he is on a decent engouh wage use him as an impact sub for the rest o his newcastle career

We cant even get rid of the non starters at the club never mind bring in new quality replacements . T he club should of cleared all the deadwood out long ago and that would of freed up more cash to improve the squad . Yet again another window of being linked with every player on the planet but same old speal couldn’t quite push it over the line lol .

Gotta be Demba, no settle in period since he knows most of the players and traits… Its a no brainer, if he’s available do everything you can to tie him down to a PROPER contract…

We do not need another unknown, unproven striker in our ranks…
