There hasn’t been too much news on Tom Ince in this transfer window, and Newcastle have been linked with this player since the summer, and his contract at Blackpool runs out in June, when he will become a free agent.
Tom Ince – may not move in January
And it seems that at least two other clubs, Tottenham and Swansea are also interested in the 21 year-old England U21 International.
But there is also interest from abroad and Italian club Udinese are keen to take the youngster, but they want him when (if?) he becomes a free agent in the summer.
It seems that Newcastle would be willing to pay £4M for him now, and that to us seems a really good fee for Blackpool to get – given the lad only has six months of his contract to run at the Seasiders.
Bu we suppose ultimately it’s up to Tom what he wants to do, and there’s a chance he could wait until the summer, where the chances are high that he would be able to get a much better deal for himself.
And it seems that when he becomes a free agent foreign clubs would be better positioned than English clubs, because FIFA have rules that mean that Ince can join a foreign club for a cut-price fee of around £300K, if he becomes a free agent.
Blackpool are due some compensation from English clubs, even if they sell him as a free agent in the summer, and that would be a lot bigger than £300K.
However, it seems that Liverpool were wide awake when they sold their youngster to Blackpool in the summer of 20011, and they put a clause in the contract that means they would get a 50% sell-on fee when he is transferred.
That means that any profit they make on selling Ince would be halved, as 50% would be due to Liverpool.
We think Tom would be a good signing for Newcastle, if the club can pull it off, and Tom has made 107 appearances for Blackpool with a good 37 goals.
