Tiote Questions Referee’s Decision Disallowing Fantastic Goal

The shot by Cheick Tiote that went like a rocket into the back of the net in the first half today gave Joe Hart no chance at all, and Joe didn’t even have time to dive for the ball.

cheick tiote man city

Cheick Tiote – doesn’t understand referee’s decision – neither do we

But the assistant referee disallowed the goal for some reason, and while three Newcastle players were in an offside position, none was in the sight line  of Joe Hart, so why the officials have disallowed the goal is a mystery.

It was simply an awful decision – once again by these officials.

This is what Cheick Tiote told Sky Sports after the game:

“I don’t understand why the referee didn’t give the goal.” “I think it was Gouffran who was next to the goalie but he didn’t touch it. I don’t know why the assistant referee decided to give offside.”

“That’s football, we need to accept it and go forward.” “I’m so disappointed today but I think we played well and that’s the most important thing. We can take it on to the next game.”

Cheick should have had his second goal of his career for Newcastle today, and it was like the goal he scored against Arsenal in the 4-4 draw – it went in like the proverbial rocket – but it’s an indication how nothing went Newcastle’s way this afternoon.

And of course we may never know why the referee disallowed the goal,  as they are not supposed to talk about their decisions after the game. 🙁

What was that about having video replays?

    Repost….
Bloggers.on here are obsessed with individual performances and completely MISS how well the the team performs.
We have just bossed and bullied one of the best teams in Europe, and some still find something to bitch about.

Anita shouldnt have been subbed off. In my opinion Cabaye should have. He was living dangerously on that yellow and was lucky not to get sent off. It wasnt one of his better games either

i think it reinforces many people’s notion (mine included) that AP is tactically awful and sees the match different to most supporters.

I understand where you’re coming from though reguarding Anita. He’s a very polarizing player. For people who understand football, it’s there for all to see that he is class. For those who don’t, well, they think he’s utter crap 🙂

Yeah, the players and crowd were immense. I do agree that the disallowed goal really stoked up the atmosphere. Lucky we put a lid on the passion rather than getting players sent off!

But teams like City just have so many top class players that they have a knack of winning games even when up against it. They’re so tough to beat if they’re on their game.

Anita as always was solid. Only missed 1 pass that I can remember.

Pards was apparently banking on a Cisse wondergoal.

Maybe he could have evened up the decisions and made out that he missed the punch? 🙂

I’d love to see a comment from the ref saying why he ruled it out and either sticking by it or apologising.

At 1-0 down I accepted defeat and just said Cabaye don’t shoot because the ref will just disallow it anyway.

TDS, yep City had an obvious skip in their step and having been unbeaten in 10 or so games including the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich-I am proud we threw them off their game. Just annoyed we didn’t capitalize.

wasn’t the officials the same one’s that robbed us against Arsenal?

if so i think MA should ban them from refereeing at our club at home

we agree on something! Anita had a bit of a shaky start. he did have a few wayward passes but he was back to his usual class-self in no time. So reliable. He and Tiote have a great partnership there.

If Taylor had scored that chance he had later in the half. It would have been the second goal ruled wrongly offside

We build up too slow. Thers no pace in the team(not even on wings). A slow build up accompanied by a non physical striker. Thats what we get.

If you want to buildup slowly, get that kind of physical personnel.

It just annoys me not just today but the league and the scandals so called FA. Everyweek we see teams trying to cheap Man U example players diving all over the place that we man januazi is at it now aswell…Something needs to de done a straight red for trying to cheat or introduce a new card a green card that signals a sin bin or something for a dive.

cant chuffin believe that lads and lasses. I think we could all see that ref had a point to prove though from the outset.

I couldnt tell though, did the linesman not even give it as offside and it was the ref who decided? I couldnt tell

JFK has stated in today’s programme that we will only buy one player per season because we have a strong squad. How do you run a club like that? It is pathetic. And how much is he being paid to sign one player a season?Probably on loan!!!!!. A strong squad which includes the Ambler, the ambler’s brother, Cisse and Gosling!!!!! The club is dead from the neck up. A club with no purpose and no soul.

Referees do not get to see multiple replays like viewers do, so there job is very difficult; the referee and the linesman saw a Newcastle player on the goal line so it’s not surprising they were concerned. All they needed to do was to watch the replays, however, and the goal should have counted.

We benefit from it some days and not others…theoretically it all evens up over a season. But we only really remember the ones that go against us.

Was having a chat with a mate earlier, that they could put in more video refereeing, but then we wouldn’t have as much to talk about…

Agree Anita should’ve stayed on. So many times he was recycling the ball for us. Although he doesn’t have the killer pass he enable us to get it into better positions. Once he went off the possession tilted towards City. Bringing Cisse was a desperate move.

Shows we don’t have many options upfront. HBA finds it hard against tight defences like theirs, he needs the game to be a bit more stretched. He looked lively but ineffective.

Agree Cabaye was lucky to not get sent off. MYM could’ve gone as well – he deliberately lashed out with his trailing leg. Has caused a serious injury. Remember our uproar about De Jong breaking HBA’s leg?? MYM could’ve been in trouble for that. Pardew was right to being him off, he was shake by it.

The Ref clearly got the vital decision very badly wrong. Simply no doubt about it.
The players are pissed they didnt get the point they feel they deserved. The fans are livid because we got nothing through a clear error of judgement.

The Ref goes home, everything in the garden is rosey. Answerable to nobody, not a care in the world. What a fantastic life.
If a player criticises the ref, he will be fined; If the manager criticises the ref, he will be banned from the touchline and fined.

The ref carries on enjoying life as if nothing happened.
