Newcastle Interested In England U21 Defender

Newcastle are reported to be interested in 20-year-old Leicester City defender Liam Moore, who is a regular in the Leicester City side this season, and both club and player are doing very well.

Liam Moore – 20 year old Leicester City defender

Liam is a highly-rated young player and has been playing for Leicester, who are top of the Championship and are four points clear of Burnley after 25 games played.

He can play either at center-back or right back and the 6’1″ tall player has played three times for the England U17 side and once for the England U21 side.

Liam was born in Loughborough and he made his Leicester City debut in August 2011 in a 2–1 defeat away to Aldershot, when he was only 18 years old.

He has since played 44 times for Leicester and 25 times this season with one goal, and the lad has had previous loan spells at Bradford City and Bradford.

The England U21 defender was watched by a number of Premier League clubs including Newcastle  last Friday, when he was excellent in the home game against Derby County which Leicester won 4-1.

Other Premier League clubs said to be interested in the defender include Aston Villa, Swansea and West Brom and it would be good if Newcastle can recruit a few more English players to the Tyneside club.

But Leicester have a great chance of being promoted this season under former Newcastle coach Nigel Pearson, and they will probably be in no hurry to sell one of their best young players.

    on your point to TDS

I think it’s a good one…for all people say we do good business we have signed some duffers in amalfitano, best, marvoux, and plenty more

the only difference is the cost…back then the ones who came off were very special (shearer as main example) and players like boumsong (who were terrible)….not there isn’t as much a gulf as we shop in bargain bin a lot of the time.

Also don’t think owen was a bad signing, he scored 7 in 10, then got injured….if he hadn’t been injured by paul robinson initially then for england we might have had 4 seasons of 20+ goals.

He is a very good promising player,

though im not sure that a team on the brink of the premier league like Leicester would sell an important starter like him

    Stories a no go,
He’s not injured, definitely not French and not in the last six months of his contract, probably won’t go on strike to force a move either.
